I admit when I first bought my ‘99 FRC I didn’t know about the ‘63 Z06, since most thought my Corvette was a C5Z06 because it was the same body style and they didn’t notice the badges said Z51 I came up with the screen name PRE-Z06 not realizing there was a C2Z06.

When I was about 10 years old, I remember riding to the mountains in my stepdad's '65 327 Vette, and him talking about the (C2) Z06. Never imagined I'd own a Z06 back then, but years later, I test drove a new 2002, and parked one in my garage later that week.

Cool story, thanks for sharing. I went for a ride in my dad’s friends new ‘01 Z06 when I was 16 and was sold, then rode in my friend’s FRC when I was 20 at an autocross. Had an IRS swapped Mustang GT at the time and sold it when I went into the Navy, then started saving for a Corvette when I got back from overseas. Would have bought a C6Z06 instead of the Grand Sport after getting rid of the C5FRC, but wasn’t willing to take the gamble on the LS7 as all my friends who race have lost their original engines whether stock or not.
