Who else thinks GM’s silence on wide variety of aspects of the car signals problems with the Z06 itself? We have yet to see a working configurator. We dont know EPA ratings. We dont know the weight of the car. We don’t even know the top speed (officially on some GM document that is). No formal announcement as far as delays. In fact, I dont think we have received any tangible piece of information about the car since its unveil a year ago. Almost beginning to look like Elon’s cyber truck.
I for one think the supplier constraints are real but they are only part of the story. If they were the true only cause, we would be hearing from GM in the form of awesome youtube material, lap times or videos. We would also hear from them in the form of positive hype. Furthermore, I would think even in the Covid-19 times of extremely low production numbers, GM would be able to produce Z06s far more than the a few hundred they produce in 5 months. So there is(are) definitely problem(s) with the car we dont know about. At this point, it has been 1 year and we have yet to have a single tangible metric other than 0-60 times. No lap times. No POV videos (except Ron’s awesome lap).
There is someone new in the C8 forum (sometimes more than one) every week about a transmission problem. We are in year 3 now coming up at 4 and still transmission issues even in the late 2022 models. I wonder if thats part of the problem that FPC isnt working well with that DCT.

Fwiw, two of the best cars made in the last decade, the 911R and the 458 spider, were underwhelming in their numbers relative to their competition at the time they were released. Neither were the fastest at the time, neither company cared about performance numbers, but both were sprinkled with legendary automotive fairy dust that made their drivers emotionally engaged and rewarded to the highest degree possible. In a Tesla world where speed has been democratized and is no longer reserved for hypercars, a world where soon a Camry with four electric motors will be as fast or in a straight line as a Chiron, the only substantive variable that’s left to sports cars to differentiate themselves will be driver engagement.
The Z06 was built with this philosophy in mind. Will they achieve it? Who knows. And it’s supper disappointing that we’re made to wait this long to know for ourselves. But this was never meant to be the fastest car out there … not on the drag strip, not on a road course, not anywhere. This car is a parting gift from people who care about cars, it is the last gasp of something that will never exist again. If you’re buying it for numbers, this was never the car for you. For those that care to give up emotion for a couple of tenths of speed, Corvette will build that car too in the ZR1/Zora, albeit in 2085.
I agree. This was Aaron’s quote on the latest video. “ the main goal for development is mostly just lap time”. Okay then, give us a lap time. From anywhere Geez.
EPA ratings were included when they announced the GG taxes on the Z06 and the Z07 trims. Dry weight with CF wheels and CCBs was announced at 3434# months ago. Performance numbers, we have 0-60, 1/4 mile trap and ET and top speed for both Z06 and Z07 (both very disappointing).
Since it is no longer a "numbers" car according to Tadge, it will be the greatest track car ever so it must handle great - with no lap times disclosed. YouTubers gush, but are not allowed to disclose anything about how it feels or handles, so I guess it is not a "feelings" car either, just a great money pit, oh wait, they can't produce them so they lose there too.
Yes, venting, but Chevy has given us so must to vent about, putting the world on notice that they are inept, in marketing, publicity and giving accurate information about the car.
As I don't KNOW what the issue is as far as ordering/building the cars, I can't help there. I do KNOW there's enough speculation/wild *** guesses/made up stuff delivered as FACTS, to keep the internet afloat for years.
PS. For everyone that doesn't know what the phrase "numbers car" means, refer to a Dodge Challenger Hellcat for guidance.
Hate to add to the panic around here, but I had a little bit of info dropped to me about a year ago by someone who works at GM and does testing of vehicles. He said the FPC isn't going to be reliable - I have taken it with a grain of salt because it's been race tested etc. But with all this BS happening I'm starting to wonder if that's what going on and GM doesn't want to lose their asses on warranty claims. I'm thinking I'm just going to get a SR or something else. I doubt my number will ever get called anyways.
Almost all people don't really get this car. Most on these forums do not get this car at all, what it is, what the history of a Z06 track capable car is, and what this finally is. It's not some ride to impress your buddies, and its going to be tough on the street I think to make nice. It's a capable tool, and the best racing Corvette ever offered to the people since the L88.
If you have any questions about this package, this combination of engine, suspension and transmission, there is not an example that exists for you to time on some random track and watch for reliability or create rumors about. Perhaps thats by design. However there are a couple detuned examples running around with less power and significant handicaps. They are not equipped with factory interiors. They still seem to go fast. If you are curious about the engine and transmission package...look at the demo car. I don't think this will be a reliable turnkey simpleton that does everything for you. It will be expensive to buy, costly to operate and somewhat tempermental. But thats what a great car is...and should be.

I dont care about “your questions answered” links. I care about chevrolet.com having all of the technical specs out at this point. Porsche unveiled the new 911 GT3RS at the end of august. In 24-48 hours after announcement, this website was up with the information you are looking at. I dont want some corvette meeting in Carlisle to be the source of information. I also dont care about dry weight because you cant drive a car “dry”. What matters is the real world weight that you will experience. Where is the drag coefficient? What about top speed? What about downforce numbers? Again, stop quoting me about some interview Tadge gave to speed phenom. That might be an acceptable way of sharing information to kids but if you want to be taken seriously, you need to get your act together and play the game like pros (and see below as how pros release specs).

Was the Demon that needed a hero run to hit the advertised 1/4 time a numbers car too? lol @ auto manufacturers

Amazingly, there are actually a couple of people on this forum that believe GM has done no wrong, that everything that has happened has been "beyond their control" and people are just "whining". You can't fix stupid... but you sure can gawk at it...

Which is a direct contradiction to what Tadge said... that it's NOT a numbers car.
How is it possible to put the world on notice and develop their best track car and it not be a numbers car? Competitively putting a car on the track is nothing but about having the best TIME. Time is a number.
I believe it WAS a numbers car... until the numbers came in.
Regardless, I'm so trying to stay somewhat excited about the car.

100%. The numbers must suck. This car is a massive flop so far

Speaking for myself, I look forward to YOU starting a thread that does NOT have the word "Porsche" in it. There's a "other cars" section here, you should try it. You know, play the "game like the pro's"...I assume you fancy yourself as part of that group?
So, you don't believe the answers I posted?
And here's WET WEIGHT for you: 3,434 pounds + 185 pounds (all fluids, full gas tank): 3,619 pounds WET. Z07 with CCB/CF wheels.

Do you work for General Motors or the federal government/EPA? I dont care about what you or I think the weight is. It has to be official on a piece of website along with other key metrics, neatly organized. This is the case for Honda Civic or Subaru Outback or 911 Turbo. Z06 is no different.

Hopefully once the press cars go out to real reviewers this month (lol finally) and the embargo is lifted next month (lol finally ffs) we can start getting some actual performance data on the car. Like a real review with instrumented tests, not youtubers doing donuts and declaring it as amazing.
