Default Something FUN while we all WAIT

So, my questions to you, dear readers, as we all wait.... 1. What is the first thing you are most looking forward to doing in your new C8Z06 when you finally get it? 2. Have you owned corvettes previously to the C8 generation or has the mid engine configuration brought you in to the fold? 3. Not that it matters, but what is your age (they are hoping to bring in a younger demographic) 4. What are the basic stats of your Z06 build and color in you are planning on getting one. 4. Are there any other cars that you would seriously consider as an alternative to the C8Z...

I'll go first. 1. Since I have moved to NC from the Midwest, I am excited to drop the top in the HTC and drive some of the beautiful back roads in NC which I haven't been able to do since I moved here as I sold my C7 Z06 in 2018 (mistake) then after the 1500 mile break in for track use, I am so excited to go to VIR for the first time. I have significant previous HPDE experience mainly from tracks in the midwest, but never made the trek down to VIR, now its two hours away from me, excited for that (I do have thousands of laps there on the simulator however.

2. I previously owned a C4, C5, C6, C7, and manual c7z06 dedicated track car, cooling upgrades so no problems for me with overheating.

3. Currently 54 so not the 'young' demographic but I was fortunate to own my first corvette by 27 thru hard work and good fortune (self made)

4. Way out of character for me, I am having trouble making a decision on color. I have narrowed it down to White, Silver, Torch Red and Red Mist. Love the black Batmobile look but my C6 was black and keeping it clean was a way of life, never again. My C7 and C7 were both white with black accents and loved them both, was shocked when I decided on white as I normally like red sports cars. My build will be HTC 3LZ, comp seats, carbon fiber interior pkg 1 or 2 depending, int stealth option, non z07 although I will go to track this will not be a dedicated track car like my c7Z, carbon fiber skirts and splitter will go aftermarket if I have to, standard wing.

Would love to see your answers! Here is a pic of me in my previous Z

What I was looking forward to most was taking the Z to the track - which was a great experience! It's my 5th Vette - grew up liking Chevys because of my father and a Vette was always a goal as a kid growing up in a lower middle class family. 2 x C4's (manual amd auto), 1 C5 Vert manual and C6 LS2 auto. (Modified the C5 amd C6 heavily).

Wanted a Z07 but had to settle for a 3LZ in Amplify orange. 45 years old and it's been about 11 or 12 years since I owned a Vette. Owned a lot of other stuff in the interim. Had my first Vette in my early 20's.

I have my name on a list for anothet ZLE (manual), 992 GT3 and Turbo S, but the Z06 came in before the others. I cycle through cars quickly and tracked Gen 5 Vipers, GT350 Rs, M5s, ZLEs, Rush SR, 991 GT3, 992 Carrera. I can say that I'm really impressed with the Z06 and can say it will be worth the wait. I'm not a patient person, so having numerous cars on order has helped.

1. Carve some twisties.
2. Owned two C3s, one C4, one C5, two C6s (still have one), and one C7 (Z06 and still own).
3. I'll be 65 in September.
4. Blue (not rapid) or black. Interior black. No Z07 and 3LZ. Coupe.
5. Other cars considered are Huracan, McLaren GT, 488.

1. Get through the break in period and hit 8600

2. Currently own C8 Z51 coupe

3. 27

4. 3LZ Rapid Blue HTC on tension blue.

5. Not really, Z06 would be at the top of my budget. I'd compare it to a GT3, Ferrari, Lambo etc. performance wise but those are outta my price range. I mostly compare it against the base C8. Don't think you can get the same level of performance for the price. You can definitely get a good NA enthusiast experience but it's gonna be something older.

Very good questions....how we got here

1. With the new Z06, I will pick it up from the Museum for the 3rd time. I so much enjoy the ride back to Texas, maybe back thru Tail of the Dragon, get the break-in done, and get home. And once again I look forward to the Spring Mountain trip, my only tracking, but who knows....maybe more.

2. 1st was a 2005 C6 Vert, completely changed out the interior with real leather - '14 C7 Z51 - currently have a '17 Z06 manual convertible.

3. 73, recently trying to retire from 53 years of Whataburger, currently have 11 stores in Texas. Hard work but very rewarding.

4. Z06 Vert - 3LZ Vert - amplify Orange-Nat Dip Napa - CCB - Aero Package with High spoiler....will PPF and ceramic coat while at Museum.

Non asked 5. - #59 at MMulkin, they have accepted my build and next week will submit to Chev but with the constraints, I doubt order will fill until April/May

Thanks, I love to vent

1. What is the first thing you are most looking forward to doing in your new C8Z06 when you finally get it?
Giving my kids a ride in it, feverishly checking the weather before getting the keys, and calling ahead for my starbucks order.

2. Have you owned corvettes previously to the C8 generation or has the mid engine configuration brought you in to the fold?
C5Z, C6Z, C7, C7Z, C7Z, and now the C8Z.

3. Not that it matters, but what is your age (they are hoping to bring in a younger demographic)
43 and a half. bought the C5Z when I was 27

5. Are there any other cars that you would seriously consider as an alternative to the C8Z...

There are other cars that compete with the C8Z but they are more expensive and generally less forgiving or usable in as many situations.
I own/have owned some of those cars and want to own even more of them but not instead of the C8Z, only in addition.

4. What are the basic stats of your Z06 build and color in you are planning on getting one.
Mine arrived January 20th (give or take a couple days)

1. Given that I’m with Furman and live in Cincinnati I’ll probably do a museum delivery. A trip through the smokies and a lap or two on the dragon sounds like a good “get to know ya” weekend

2 I’ve owned 1 C3, 3 C4, 2 C5, 2 C6 and 1 C7.

3. I’m 49. I bought my first Vette at 23…. A used black 94 coupe. My first new Vette was an 01 coupe.

4. If I was ordering today with no constraints I’d chose a chose a 2LZ Z07 Coupe with comps, black bits, and lift…. At this point no idea on the color… maybe AY.

5. I current own a Viper TA (which will keep my left leg busy) and my C7 Z06. If the Z doesn’t happen I’d consider a GT3/4RS. I’d love a Performante but without selling my Viper it’s a bit out of my lane

Breaking it by driving up to the Tail of the Dragon.

First Corvette. 670hp and DCT brought me in to the fold.

Older demographic...

5. Are there any other cars that you would seriously consider as an alternative to the C8Z...
Not really.

ELB/Black. No Z07 but getting carbon

1. What is the first thing you are most looking forward to doing in your new C8Z06 when you finally get it?
Museum Delivery, for the first time, and my first NEW Corvette. Planning a drive and exploration of the Northeast, a pursuit of Lobster and Seafood, then stringing a set of drives to cross the country.

2. Have you owned corvettes previously to the C8 generation or has the mid engine configuration brought you in to the fold?
First Corvette was a tired 1968 convertible that bought when I was 19, we are still together.... The third Corvette that I got was a C5 that I still have and that car really in many ways is the best Corvette ever. The C5 is low cost and high return in every way. I have not had a C6, had a 2017 C7 Grand Sport manual and while the car had neat qualities I thought in many ways it was way too complex and delicate to be a daily driver like the C5. Will buy a C5 Z06 at some point. The newest Corvette I have purchased is a 66 327/350 Roadster and that car certainly adds a pride of ownership that is hard for other Corvettes to match. Everyone knows the C2 generation. Currently have 68 Convertible, 68 project racer, 69 racecar project, 1966 roadster and C5 Convertible.

3. Not that it matters, but what is your age (they are hoping to bring in a younger demographic)
Older demographic...53.

5. Are there any other cars that you would seriously consider as an alternative to the C8Z...
The alternative was a used red car from Italy, or adding a Beech Staggerwing if I decide to go "the other way" for some reason...

4. What are the basic stats of your Z06 build and color in you are planning on getting one.
Orange/Natural 3LZ HTC Z07

1. What is the first thing you are most looking forward to doing in your new C8Z06 when you finally get it?
Break it in properly, fit track wheels/tires and do a track alignment, hit the track.
2. Have you owned corvettes previously to the C8 generation or has the mid engine configuration brought you in to the fold?
5 C-1s, 5 C-2s, 4 C-3s, 2 C4s, 2 C6 Z06s. Was going to pass on the C8Z until the DOHC NA motor was announced, then I was all in.

3. Not that it matters, but what is your age (they are hoping to bring in a younger demographic)
75
5. Are there any other cars that you would seriously consider as an alternative to the C8Z...
Own a Gen V Viper ACR-E – a keeper and perfect stable/track mate for a C8Z.
4. What are the basic stats of your Z06 build and color if you are planning on getting one.
Silver 1LZ, Z07 w/aero, Comp seats, PDR. Sitting at #1 at a smaller/medium dealer, but passed over on earlier allocations waiting on constraints to be lifted.

OK, I will play. Car was supposed to be entered last week...but ya know the whole shut down thing kinda sucks for everyone so hoping for this upcoming allocation
  1. I am looking forward to driving through some tunnels with the top down to hear that beautiful engine and of course a few track days!
  2. The C8 Z06 will by my 7th Corvette. Having purchased my first one in 1994 and my current car is a C8 HTC Z51 and I absolutely love it!
  3. I am over 50 now....with the maturity level of a teenager and some days the body of an 80 year old!
  4. C8Z06 HTC and 3LZ, plus Carbon Ceramic Brakes. Red Mist exterior, graphite wheels and black interior with the red stitching. Some photos from GM site below. I went back and forth for months deciding on the exterior. I have gone with Torch Red on 5 of my last 6 Corvettes, but I thought is was time for a change and I love the Red Mist color (in most light)
  5. I am a bigger guy 6'4" and 280lbs (not fat though... ) so I am a bit limited on what types of cars I can fit in. That said I am also a "Bang for the Buck" type of guy and although I love all sorts of makes and models I cannot see the value in, as an example, a comparable Ferrari for 2-3X the price of the Z06. That said if not for the LT6 engine I am also not sure if I would get the Z06 at all and instead stay with the C8 Z51 as it is an excellent car by all accounts

1. What is the first thing you are most looking forward to doing in your new C8Z06 when you finally get it?
Road trip home from the NCM, taking my daughter in it, first trip to VIR (yeah that's 3 things)

2. Have you owned corvettes previously to the C8 generation or has the mid engine configuration brought you in to the fold?
C5 x 4
C7 x 1
C8 x 3

3. Not that it matters, but what is your age (they are hoping to bring in a younger demographic)
41 (42 in September) > first C5Z purchased in 2003 at 21.

4. Are there any other cars that you would seriously consider as an alternative to the C8Z...
Loaded question... C8Z is top of my budget so I often toy with keeping the regular C8 and getting another C5 Z06 and I have a strong desire for a AMG GT roadster

5. What are the basic stats of your Z06 build and color in you are planning on getting one.
1LZ coupe in rapid blue w/ sky cool grey seats, chrome emblems, red brakes, nav/PDR

Sharing drive with my wife and kids and enjoying my home track and COTA

2. Have you owned corvettes previously to the C8 generation or has the mid engine configuration brought you in to the fold?
None. Always had some level of interest in C6 and C7, but the C8 mid engine won me over.

3. Not that it matters, but what is your age (they are hoping to bring in a younger demographic)
Late 40's

4. Are there any other cars that you would seriously consider as an alternative to the C8Z...
Definitely GT4, GT3, and used 720s

5. What are the basic stats of your Z06 build and color in you are planning on getting one.
3LZ, Coupe, Torch Red, Z07 package, front lift

1. Revving high, really high. Only at 800 miles currently, and haven’t rev’ed it up high yet.

2. Yes. Currently have the following corvettes in the garage right now: 1954, 1963 split window, 1963 convertible, 1967 big block corvette, 1976, 1979 L82 corvette, 1996 collector edition, 2003 anniversary edition, 2012 grand sport, 2015 Z06, and now the 2023 Z06.

3. I am 43 years old.

4. My Z is a 3LZ, red mist, machine faced wheels, front lift, carbon flash mirrors and rear spoiler, sueded upper interior trim, red engine intake…

5. I would say no, although my 11 year old daughter says we should get a Ferrari 😂

1. Just driving it. I have simple tastes. lol
2. Bought my first one new in 1976. Yes, 47 years ago. Have had several since.
3. 78 in August.
4. Currently own 2016 ZO6. Bought new. Only has 20 K miles on it. lol
5. Only been on the list for several years, so have not seen reason to decide. But it will probably be bright Red.
