There have been reports from the bash that the 2024 and beyond Corvettes will include a bunch of auto drive nannies including
Forward Collision Alert
Lane Keep Assist
Automatic Emergency Braking
Front Pedestrian Braking
etc
My wife's SUV has all that and more and I actually really like it on that car but I don't think I would want that in my Corvette. You can adjust the levels of assist in her car but you cannot turn it off,
So my question is, can these nannies be turned off on the Corvette? If we don't know that yet then perhaps someone can chime in who has a similar system from a 2023 Chevrolet. That might give a clue as to what
we can expect for the 2024 Corvette.

Button on steering wheel to turn most if not all of that off. (I think), check out pics of eray steering wheel.
We have AEB on two of our cars and it is supposed to minimize you rear ending others. On both cars, the AEB activated hard when I would not have braked at all. Fortunately I got on the throttle quickly and avoided the car behind me rear ending me. Lane keep assist doesn't know the difference between lane line markers and the tar they use to seal longitudinal cracks, something a 5-year old would know.
The problem with AI is it is artificial, not the real thing.
It is a shame the 2023s don't have adaptive cruise control for the highway. With the wacky drivers all over, it minimizes braking which shuts off the cruise control and then makes you reactivate it. If you anticipate what is going on it i is a great resource.
Maybe where you guys drive you don't have drivers doing 80, pass you and then slow down to 60 to pass the slow trucks. Here, they do it all the time.
I wish it could be that you could just have these systems as separate options. Then people who want them could have them and people who don't want them don't have to get them. I don't want any them.
Anyway, I looked up the 2022 Cadillac CT5 manual and it does allow you to turn off all these systems (presumably permanently) in the vehicle personalization menu. That gives me hope for the 2024 C8s but I am still concerned about it. On the 2022 C8 from the manual it looks like you can turn off Side blind zone alert and rear cross traffic alert but not park assist.
Thanks for the photos. I did see that the Eray has those buttons but I assume those are to change the modes. It doesn't necessarily mean that you can turn these features completely off.
I learned how to drive and still drive
without all the nannies.
If you need these devices, you dont know
how to drive.
On my Z06, I leave active handling, ABS, and traction control on for street driving. Occasionally, I'll dial it back in good weather without other cars close by, but don't see any reason to fully shut them off.
On my other car I shut off or use the least intrusive setting for lane keeping, AEB, and similar features.
Thought I read that these are on by default in tour mode but not in the other modes? If so, not a big deal to me. I just find it annoying when you have to disable these nannies every time you start the car.

For what it's worth: each of these systems can be turned off. Take that to the bank.
My 2023 Cadillac Black wing has nannies. I can turn off lane changing (which is permanently off) and adjust the "rear ending" feature so it would stop AFTER I would.
I also have a constant picture of a car that is usually green, turns yellow when near a car, and red if danger, and a "sign" that flashes when a car comes out of (say) a driveway and the distance is close that warns me of pending danger. Finally, and I understand women love this feature (lol), the front seat "vibrates" when you get too close to an object.
Sounds like a bunch of stuff that will add to the price, add to the number of things that can stop working, and most of which aren't necessary on a sports car that isn't driven daily.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
