I live in the middle of the forest and see animal impacts all the time on vehicles. I also live in bear country, spotting them on roadways every other week and even encountered 4 of them on one of my runs last week. This does not look like it hit a bear. As previously mentioned, there is no hair, blood, etc. Bears are also short and stump when walking around with a low center of gravity. I do not see any clear impact point on the front bumper of where the bear would have hit the car and rolled onto the windshield. I would also expect the hood to be pushed in due to the 600-1000lb weight of the bear landing on it but it looks to be completely structurally fine.
What could be the more likely scenario is that he saw a bear on the road and pitched it into the ditch, but it does not appear that he made contact with a bear at all. But at the end of the day it could just be a story for insurance as well. None of us could know for sure.
I did the Dragon 4 times, once with each of my cycles, twice with the Gold Wing and there were a few " (bear) hair raising " curves. I was lucky to come out whole. When I look back I say to myself, What the hell were you trying to accomplish ?? Oh, I forgot the "small curve" machine. My 450 K6 with the rear Harley wheel and larger tire !!

An insurance adjuster will know in a matter of seconds if there is animal envolvement here as fur, blood, tissue, etc., would be found on that car.
Interesting place to hit a bear.
Car is obviously totaled.
Very bad Karma to react jokingly to this man's/women misfortune. How much does this suck to have waited for that Z06 only to have that happen? Hopefully only pride was hurt.......
We've seen this scene before. IIRC, this was also at the Tail of the Dragon. They walked away. It's not like being on track where you get a couple of warm-up laps and get a chance to preview the track conditions. You get one shot at it, and there isn't much room for error. Better off to stick to the track - there are less bears there - with fur or a radar gun.

Or it could be considered fortunate because when the driver lost control of the car that it didn't slide out into oncoming traffic causing injury or damage to other drivers and cars. People come around blind curves at a pace that does not allow for stopping or much chance of evasive maneuvers if a car is dead in their lane. I'm surprised there aren't more cars slayed by the dragon.
