Wasn't this the excuse used for the C7 GS & Z06 wheels issues to deny warranty coverage?

OP's wheels weren't bent from the factory. So GM is not going to pay for them.

If a dealer denied the coverage because of that, that's on the dealer. GM never did that.

With such low profile sidewalls, this will happen if you are not always focus on the road conditions. It could happen if their is a lip on a driveway that you drove on it at such a angle that Could bend it as well with speed? imo.

Depending on where and how great the issue is many competent wheel repair companies can make them back to perfectly round.

To my knowledge dealers cannot deny warranty coverage, only GM/manufacturer can.

A dealer can tell you to go away and not cover it under warranty. They're independently owned and operated. They don't have to file the paperwork to get warranty payment from GM for the work if they don't want to.

GM has NEVER denied warranty coverage for the wheels because of the driving mode the car was in. The Chief Engineer wouldn't have written what he did in "Ask Tadge" if GM had done that.

In this case, it makes no sense for a dealership to refuse to replace a wheel under warranty unless GM denies/denied the warranty claim.

Except Tadge said the damage was most likely caused by a road hazard that was undetectable to the driver, so it wouldn't be covered by warranty. That basically said GM was denying warranty coverage for the wheels because they deemed (without evidence) that damage was caused by road hazard.

GM also claimed some warranty claims for wheels were damaged because the owner installed aftermarket parts. Additionally, they said in the lawsuit that because the plaintiffs were claiming a design defect in the wheel & design defects aren't covered under warranty. It appears it was GM denying warranty coverage and just not dealers.

I guess C7 owners just started driving their Corvettes over road hazards non-stop where C6 and previous gen owners never did. Definitely not the wheels...

All that said, I still don't believe OP's wheels were bent at delivery.

Agreed. Seriously doubt the factory delivered a car with two bent front wheels.

bunch of unrelated text clipped

The point I was trying to make, and you keep twisting around it for the sake of arguing your tenuous position is: and I re-quote:

GM has NEVER denied warranty coverage for the wheels because of the driving mode the car was in.
Keep twisting, ducking, and jumping around the argument all you like, you're still not disproving the point I was originally taking in this whole thread that driving in track mode, or any other mode, will put the wheels at greater risk of bending. It's simply not true, and it was started by the uninformed folks at Spring Mountain.

The car had 23 miles at delivery. Someone drove it. Who is to say who bent them. I have the car 2 weeks. What are the chances I bent 2 wheels in that time period. I always look for potholes. I have a Porsche panamera with 21 inch wheels with 18k miles. Have not bent them at all. Same roads,

Not doubting you but lets be real. Two bent rims same as one if taken over something like a railroad track. Factory almost doesn't have the ability to do that. I'd look at the dealer test drive after service or the the lot boy that gassed it up. Owning a Porsche doesn't mean anything.

Serious question here.... even if they were to replace the bent wheels with new ones, or you're stuck with buying new wheels; who is to say that the new wheels won't bend also if / when hit the wrong way?

Maybe it's a crap shoot or x out of 100 wheels will bend and GM is just playing the numbers game.

OP, sucks that it happened to you & your brand-new car. I would be pissed also.

As a side note, I recently bought a set of C7 GS wheels and 1 rear was cracked. I had it repaired for less than $200. Much cheaper than buying another wheel. Or in your case if you had the 2 wheels repaired vs. new. Or if you thought about filing an insurance claim with your auto insurance and say you hit something. You'd have to figure out what your deductible is compared to the cost of 2 wheels to see if it is worth it.

Best of luck to you. .

Default QC in Bowling Green - What's That ?

taxdr1965: Found out that my z06 with 600 miles that I have had for 2 weeks has 2 front bent wheels. Of course they immediately blameQud me. I picked up the car with 23 miles on it. I think they were like that from the beginning. At first I did not notice it or thought it would go away. They said GM will inspect the wheels and decide if they are a warranty item. Seems unlikely that 2 wheels would bend in 2 weeks. Both of my headlights were also defective. It looks like they tried to buff it out, but it’s in the same place on both headlights. I only saw it when I washed the car. Where is the quality control that they tried to pass off defective headlights and bent wheels. Not acceptable on a $145k car. Wheels should be replaced wit twelve year old could finhout question.

Quality Control in Bowling Green is worthless. Thank goodness they don't build airplanes. Even a twelve year old could find the problems I had with my 2024 Z06.
Disgraceful and absolutely unacceptable. Whoever runs QC at the plant should be shown the door.

I've had my Z06 for five months and it has been perfect in every way. Mechanically and cosmetics. This is my sixth Corvette and they have all been perfect. I think Bowling Green does a great job.

This is not the Corvette ownership experience we strive for. Our team would like the opportunity to learn more about the wheels on your Corvette and investigate ways we can potentially assist. When you get the chance, please send an email to socialmedia@gm.com. Be sure to include your Username and Forum name in the subject line, then provide additional details about your experience in the body of the email. We look forward to your contact.

Maybe aftermarket wheel time? Not the optimal solution, but judging by how many bent wheel threads are around since the C7, why rely on the factory stuff it has a long history of being compromised.

Show me another car manufacturer that has consistent customer complaints of bent or cracked wheels?

Wheels have been around as long as the car. If a manufacturer can't be trusted with the only component making contact with the road, I'd say the rest of the car is in question.
