Found out that my z06 with 600 miles that I have had for 2 weeks has 2 front bent wheels. Of course they immediately blamed me. I picked up the car with 23 miles on it. I think they were like that from the beginning. At first I did not notice it or thought it would go away. They said GM will inspect the wheels and decide if they are a warranty item. Seems unlikely that 2 wheels would bend in 2 weeks. Both of my headlights were also defective. It looks like they tried to buff it out, but it’s in the same place on both headlights. I only saw it when I washed the car. Where is the quality control that they tried to pass off defective headlights and bent wheels. Not acceptable on a $145k car. Wheels should be replaced without question. .
were you under the belief that your $145k Chevrolet was being built by a different group of union employees than their various other econobox offerings?
Indeed they are, all built at Bowling Green which does not build econoboxes or anything else except Corvettes.

and which union do they belong to?
crazy that there are quality issues on the c8 considering every previous gen of corvette was on par with the finest Europe has to offer……being assembled by bowling greens finest after all
You didn't say they were the same union, you said same group of union employees. Yes they are in the same union, but they are their own group of union employees.
My C8Z has one small quality build issue and 95% of owners would not even find it.
The Z06 and Stingray (and now Eray) group is something phenomenal. Visiting the plant and the factory is a great experience and I will continue to go back and visit when I can. They are very proud of what they do, what comes out of their shop is pretty darn near perfect when you consider production rate and the complexity of their tasks.
As to the bent wheels, it would be pretty difficult for it to happen at the factory. Perhaps it happened in the 22 miles before you got it. To a certain extent you were in a difficult situation to find that damage before you got the car. But the comment about track mode was interesting and I won't forget that. Two bent wheels means you probably did railroad tracks or a curb a little bit fast...
I was told that if you drive around in track mode on the street, the wheels become vulnerable if you hit pot holes etc.
You were told that by someone who doesn't know what they're talking about (and I know where that information came from). Don't believe that for a moment. It's not true at all.

Its true enough that its in the GM approved and paid owners school curriculum and on the presentation slide.

I drive around in track mode all the time in the North Texas area. No problems ever.

Yes. This originated from Spring Mountain, who aren't techs, aren't engineers, and aren't car designers. They know how to teach track time, but they don't know much more about the car itself other than how to maintain it. They're wrong. And GM didn't "approve" the slides.
what were his thoughts on the engineering behind the wide body c7 wheels?
All of his Q&A is available in the Ask Tadge section, but to your question specifically, his answer is here. Now, whether you like his answer or not is another story. But GM has the data to back his statements up and if folks don't bring bent wheels TO THE DEALERSHIP so that GM can know about it, there really is no way for them to know.
But never mind the Chief Engineer of the car. What's he know? ;-)
Yes he knows all, even that our C8Zs top speed is between the C6 ZR1 (205) and the C7 ZR1 (212). Ooops, we came up 10-15 MPH short with the production car!
