engine light
I recently looked at the control system using my MDI2 diagnostic interface - which is the same scanner used at the dealer level. Insofar as the powertrain is concerned, the engine ECM logged three incidents of low load, low engine speed misfire in one cylinder. And I know this occures right after cold start up. There were no other engine or transmission DTCs in the history of this car.
If you do a significant amount of slow speed driving, there is a greater risk of fouling a plug. But, because these cars run very close to stoichiometric, this really shouldn't be a problem. Multiple short trip driving is even worse though.
One thing I do which I would recommend to everyone is adding a good fuel injection cleaner to a tankful of gas just prior to doing an oil change.
With regard to fuel dilution, you won't see any tell tale on the dipstick other than a rising oil level and if you have a good sense of smell, you may be able to detect the odor of gasoline on the stick. The tell tale for me was an ever rising oil level every time I checked my oil. It would be a good idea to send off an oil sample for analysis when you do an oil change as this is the only way you know what is going on in your engine and it is very informative. I have a lab report on every oil change I have done on my car.
Factoid, You are exactly right, I got a little mixed up on the mixture!
So I guess it's not as bad, but still a problem.
I'll see what happens this weekend, see if that light comes back on!
Mitchell, I drive pretty much the same as you. I'll try the cleaner and even do the lab check.
The next two weeks should tell me something.
Thanks guys.
