There seems to be some unnecessary resentment on your part. This isn’t about anyone seeing him as an authority. It’s simply appreciating the fact that he put up videos that have been useful to those interested in the C8. Furthermore, whatever you want to say about your own credentials, he put up a faster time at LS than Randy and that doesn’t just happen without some knowledge of how to drive. Granted he used a C8.R, but I really doubt an appearance package made the difference.

You literally see him as an authority and think he has track records... this is comical.

yeah anyone who can even come within a second of a pro driver has some clue of what their doing I would think, going faster than one even better. I dont subscribe to him but he seems like a cool kid and a genuine enthusiast, humble as well. It seems like he has a pretty good grasp on what hes doing. I'm sure Randy wasn't pushing full out either given its a media event and they prob didnt want to push the car unnecessarily, he may have had parameters to stay in

As an authority on what? The only track record I pointed to was the fact that he ran his C8 at Laguna Seca faster than anyone for a lap. Seems to me that you have some underlying issues with his success and your own frustrations.

I can assure you that Randy was not running the car hard if he put in a lap at 1:38-1:39 in a C8 Z51, and BTW I have raced wheel to wheel with Randy at Watkins Glenn and other tracks. There is no way that a C8 Z51 would only run the same lap time at Willow Springs that my stock -0 C6Z with street tires and no magnetic shock suspension did - on my first visit to that track.

I am not knocking the videos SP does, but to call what he does is lap records, I will call him out on that. (Well, if you are the first person to run a particular car at a track, I guess that is a lap record, but not one to brag about)

Randy put in a 1:37:83(?) and it was at Laguna Seca not Willow Springs. SP put in a slightly better time after Randy but in a C8.R edition. It’s just a time and I’m sure someone will beat it but it’s not going to be me.

Why do you keep saying "But in the C8.R edition" like it's anything but cosmetic?

Those special stickers are worth at least 0.5 seconds.

I’m fully aware of that. I even made a couple of comments about the the stickers. I’m just differentiating between that run and the other lap he did in his torch red C8. Also, although I don’t, some seem to give real value to those stickers.

A 1:38 at Laguna Seca is quite a bit better than a 1:38 at Willow Springs, so I'll back off on that comparison.

It better. I was told for $500 adding stripes and red accents would put me over 500 HP.

  • Are the gears too long
  • Is the Z06 that much faster than the Stingray?
  • Is it worth it.
I had to use two Speed Phenom clips, since I'll likely never be invited to a big time press event outside of auto shows, but I found it helpful for me to do this comparison, hope you guys do too.

creates clip....can't say phenom correctly........watch some ESPM should sound like "fee nom" short for phenomenal, not Phenom sounding like Venom with a P. But nice job either way. Thanks for sharing.

I guess I should come clean… English is my second language. I have a decent grasp of it, but sometimes I’ll screw up a word, maybe I’m saying phenomenal wrong? Is it FEE NOM EE NAHL? I did not know that.

as for the driving comments, Austin is an awesome driver. I’m a driving instructor, I have won Gridlife and SCCA time trial events, in my Type R and ZL1 1LE, I can tell he’s a FEEnominal driver. I’ll be taking my Z06 to the track, but I’m at least a year out from taking delivery. In the meantime I’ll be enjoying his content.

[QUOTE=FlyinGato;1605582515]I agree that, occasionally, you manually change gears so that the car doesn't shift in the middle of a high speed turn. Outside of that, however, it's usually best to just leave it in auto mode.

It doesn’t matter in a DCT if in Auto it changes gear mid corner as the car does not become unsettled.
