VIDEO: 1/4 mi Twin Turbo C8 Stingray VS Stock C8 Z06
Raced my stock C8 Z06 against a Twin Turbo C8 Stingray.
C8 Stingray:
Twin Turbo
Built LME motor
Built DCT
15" conversion drag radial set up
Skinnys up front
C8 Z06:
Stock
20" rears, 20" fronts Forgedlite MC5 wheels
20" Drag radials
Carbon Fiber Crossbrace kit in enginebay
3 times a year I host a big drag race event at Famoso Dragstrip in Bakersfield, CA called The Red List Series and at our August Summer Night event we had a crazy sick line up of cars that came out to play. As I was running around keeping the flow of the event going, I noticed a fully built twin turbo C8 rolled into the event. When I spoke to the owner who was a very nice and respectful fellow, he told me it was a fully built LME motor, twin turbos, built transmission, etc etc. I told him say no more, let's race. My C8 Z06 surprised the heck out of me...

Thanks for sharing, 10.6 in the summer isn’t bad and you’re running only 91 octane being in Cali right?

Damn that SR pulled like crazy on the top end. Look at that MPH trap lol.
Z06 did very well in the heat. 10.6 just as advertised.

Can't beat the Z06 stock. What a car. Of course, you can spend a lot of $$$ and put a built motor and drag radials in a Pinto and it might run faster but it still won't be a Z06. Great video. Thanks for sharing.

Do you think whatever clutch pack they used to beef up the trans can be applied to the z06 as well?
not for added power but for more “crisp” shifts? Unless that can be remedied through the programming.

The z06 is like 600lbs more too.
and the pdk is a lot faster and crisper than the dct the z06 has.

I'm a bit puzzled here. I understand this is an N/A engine and the temperature was 91 but with drag radials car was able to barely meet the manufacturer's time and the trap speeds are really low. I was looking at OP's other videos and I wasnt able to see a single 1/4 mile run where the car traps at or above 131 mph. In fact, I dont think there is a single youtube video of an actual drag strip run or draggy run that beats the Chevy's 10.6 @ 131 mph claim. It seems like 99% of the public runs have been around 127-128 mph and times of 10.4-10.9 seconds.
I understand gearing is not great but this problem should be only happening after 130 mph in 4th gear particularly. For 1/4 mile time, there should be no gearing issue. So why is it still only 128 mph with 670 hp?
Brooks from drag times ran a GT3RS in humid florida. That car has 1000 lbs of downforce (vs OP's Z06 only 350), it has standard cup2 tires, not cup2Rs (OP has drag radials) and that car did 10.8 @ 127.5 mph. This is extremely close for 35% more power for Z06 and a lot less drag. Something is off here.
