Default ZR1 testing near Tail of the dragon

@DebRedZR1 - Please delete this FB link if not allowed, but I cannot save FB videos to share. Has a very good idle clip of ZR1 mule.

Here's the video. Sounds pretty flat plane crank to me!

Tough to tell, but it doesn't really sound like a CPC. Turbochargers have a way of changing the tone of an engine, but that idle has a higher pitch to it.

Agreed. That's the most convincing audio clip to date for suggesting it's got a FPC after all.

gm engineers confirmed at bash no fpc. Said their testing supercharging or turbocharging the lt6 led to failures. Likely a CPC crank version of the lt6 w lower revs if I had to guess . Would make sense why it sounds similar , same or smaller displacement .

I'm not as concerned about the debate whether it's FPC vs CPC, but I am about statements like this. Which GM engineer or engineers? Was it a power train guy or someone from team Corvette? Got a name to go with this statement?

The reason I find this completely unlikely that anyone at GM said ANYTHING about the ZR1's power plant is that they've not shared any deets about the car AT ALL yet. All we know is: when they're going to tell us when they're going to reveal it: sometime this summer. So with that: got any names?

When I go out to my garage, open the door and start my Z06 and let it idle down, it sounds very similar to this video. There is a minor but higher pitch on this. That could be the turbos! I am not savvy enough to pass judgement but if it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck…...

Or at least some time in the next 4 1/2 months when "summer" ends. Keep in mind the first production C8Z was to be in production summer 2022 and came off the line within a day or two of the end of the summer 2022.
