Question, perhaps a dumb one: My 98 starts up in the English (Imperial) version and I must always switch to Metric. How do I set it so that it comes on Metric automatically? Manual does not cover, or I missed it.

It is a USA car originally.

Thanks

After you set it to Metric have you pressed the Memory button? I think this should set memories to what was set before it is shut off.

From the manual:- 2-5
MEMORY can store and recall the vehicle settings for
the driver’s seat position, the outside rearview mirror
position, comfort control temperature, fan speed and
mode settings, radio presets, tone, volume, playback
mode (AMEM, Tape or CD), last displayed station,
compact disc position and audio tape direction.

On the 98s there is no way to get it to default to the other one, if the car is Canadian it will always default to metric on the next startup, if it's a US car it will always default to imperial and there is no way to fix that. (trust me, I've looked into it, as I would rather have mine default to imperial since I always switch it there anyhow)

Nice brain power there.

I was playing around with that setting a few days ago and forgot I had left it on US. Got on the highway and was doing about 90 when I realized I was passing just about everyone. Then I realized I had it set to imperial and not metric. :o I think my '03 remembers the last setting (not memory). I'll have to check that out next time I'm in it.

EDIT: My DIC remembers the last setting. If it was Imperial or Metric.

That is how my '99 was, if I had it in Imperial when I shut it down it would return to Imperial when I started it.

Come to think about it, our `99 was the same when drove in the States.
