Hey all!!!
Just wondering who you c3ers are using for insurance?
My company wants 130 a month extra for the vette over the summer months. Maybe that's normal??
But for the amount I will be driving it a month I thought it might be a bit lower than that?
Set me straight if you can😃

Costs me $331.56 for all of last year (I keep it insured all the time). Allows me to drive for pleasure or not more than 50 km weekly to and from work and less than 12,000 km per year. No under 25 drivers.

You should also be contacting Lant (Hagerty/Silver Wheels) to discuss a policy with them.
I've been with them for 14 years, and knocking wood no claims, they've been excellent to deal with.
PM me if you'd like more details.

I know many use Lant/Haggerty for their classic car ins. I use Intact Ins. basically the same as Lant and what Gerry said above with the restrictions. When I first looked into Silver Wheels/Lant in the '90's there were too many restrictions for my intended purpose. As Gerry said there are mileage limits and no driving to work, need to prove you have a dd, need to provide an evaluation every 5 yrs for stated and insured value. I think that I am probably close to what Gerry's premium is. I leave it fully insured all year.

Greg, you are correct about requiring the insured ownership of a regular daily driver, etc. but I like that there are no mileage restrictions with Lant. You just can't use it for going to work, shopping etc., but I have no issue with the policy personally and the premium is perfect IMHO.

Our insurance with TD for the C5 just went down to $645.00 for a year with full coverage anyone can drive. I'm sure when I get the C3 on the road (if) that will be much less then that.

The silver wheels is a good economical plan. Make sure you understand the restrictions. It is not for everyone. Primarily designed for someone that drives their vehicle to the occasional car show imho. You will have to have a professional appraisal done on your vehicle. The cost of insurance is based on the appraised value.

:
$168 a year, $18 for plate sticker. Actually make it feasible to have a toy that sits in storage six months a year.

Just paid my 2013 Hagerty premium this past week.
'78 Vette.
$17000 agreed upon value.
No daily use
3000 km per year maximum.
$165 plus their "hagerty fee" ( profit charge ) of $40, for a total of $205
Never had a claim, so no feedback on the service. My local broker who has my DD's and home insured set it up for me. I don't think since I bought the car I've ever put 3000km on it in one summer. Might be an issue for some, not me (yet) though.

Make sure you get a good appraiser who knows C3's as well. The guy I used is well known by the classic car ins cos. and rec'd a fair value appraisal for my '72 which became the agreed value in my policy. With some classic car ins. Cos you may be restricted from doing certain mods. When I built my engine I called my insurer and the policy was updated (350 to 383). When I get around to a body off in a few yrs I 'll require another appraisal and will likely take a hard look at the other cos again. Does your current broker/ins co offer classic car ins? Lots of good advice in this thread for you just be clear in your mind what your reqt's will be they will all be within the same range, your '77 will likely be below $200/yr.

Have fun with your '77, let us know who you chose.

This will likely be where I'm going this year possibly for the Vette and definitely the 65 Impala. Pretty similar to Lant.

It's based on at-fault claims, driving record and the vehicle. Claims that are not at-fault don't count. As for the vehicle - you can pay more for a vehicle that is at a higher risk of being stolen as one example how it counts. I believe colour can make a difference too sometimes.
