looking to use a back up camera on the the front of the car, it can be done, but not sure how, looked at a few wireless, which i prefer, but they all connect to the back up lights. Wondering if anyone has done this before, i saw some posts on the forum across the creek, but are hardwired. Not interested in buying the curb alert, maybe as a last resort, i have everything figured out except for the wiring, if hard wire is the only choice, then so be it.
Where a wireless camera connects to the backup lights, you could connect to a constant 12v if you want it on all the time, or install a discrete switch so you can flick it on as needed, no easy way for it to come on automatically. Pretty straight forward install.

Hey Al, just wondering on why you want a camera on the front? is it for parking or are you recording?
for parking, but i just thought about that Dave. i have the PDR. i forgot about it for parking, going to check it out, it doesn t go low enough, only to front of hood where it slopes down. think it will only get me 3ft to the curb.
Al... Just a reminder if you mount a rear camera on the front of your car the image will be reversed. Some have a setting for this but most don't. Shouldn't be a big deal if you are only looking for curbs.

thanks Ryan
i thought about that, but just looking for curbs mostly.
i see wallyworld and few others have cameras for $80 or so.
beats the "curb alert" at $150. Us ++++

Look at "The Source" too. They have a bunch on sale right now.
interesting, Best Buy, don t have any, they are all 3rd party items, so they don t stock or maintain them, The Source doesn t have any, only on line, i want to see one before i order it. There are very few places that have them. Just want a cheap one, not $500 one.

and can t use the pdr anyways, can t drive and watch at same time, will not turn on., safety feature.
Al have you looked at Amazon, they have quite a few even wireless options.
yes, been looking at those. not sure if i want to go wireless or not tho. some are wi fi, but not sure how that would work out either. need a hotspot for it to work.
Tap into a headlight on the outside and your headlight switch on the inside. Run wire through the knee bolster to the cubby behind your radio and Bob's your uncle.
To use the camera, turn on your lights and expose your 007 bin to see the monitor.
OR...
Get a couple pylons and practice stopping before you hit them.
