Get an electric one like a Black and Decker. The gas ones might leak gas on your finish when you hold it over the car to dry the trickier spots. And yes, it gets 99% of the water off - a quick microfibre cloth or chamois will finish off the job followed by a detailer like Zaino Z6/Z8 or NTX detailer.
thinking of getting one. do they really work well for drying cars ? are they noisy ? what hp( ?) do you recommend, strictly for drying cars, thanks
I use an electric one for blowing out the cracks and the wheels and the nooks and crannies before towel drying it. it works good but you still need to towel dry. I would not get a gas powered one for that purpose as you will be deaf in a matter of days. They are noisy.
Be careful that the tube is on tight as i had it come off one day right before i raised the blower to start drying.
I used an electric leaf blower to blow off fiberglass insulation "dust" yesterday. I was insulating my garage and the next day my car was covered with the tiny particles. I didn't want my Cali-duster to be filled with it. So I pulled it out in the driveway and blew it all off. I don't think the neighbors saw me though!
Just purchased an electric 200mph the other day. Man, that is the way to dry a car! Neighbors look at me like I'm crazy but that's nothing new. A quick wipe afterward and I'm done in about 3 minutes what used to take 3 times as long and with better results.
I bought a cord sock the other day for the leaf blower and PC. was tired of the cord touching the car when my attention span went elsewhere. works like a charm!
