I've never been able to get that thing to work either. Car always has spots on it. They wipe off fairly easily but I was always under the impression that it was supposed to dry clean without any spots. I let it dry in the shade of the garage also. Nothing beats a good old hand wash and chamois.
When finish washing drive around the block....you will dry the brake rotors and eliminate the water surplus on the car..then just wipe with a cotton towel ...you've cut your drying effort by half with noe spot whatesoever

The key is to have SOFT water. When I wash my Baby, I turn our water softener on full soft, and I use a virgin leaf blower (has never been used for anything but blow drying the vette). Then I go around and wipe the few water droplets with microfiber towels. It works great, and I have no spots!
I dry mine with one of those big Miguires Micro-fibre drying towels 9.00 at Autozone, works better than my Chamois.
I drive the car around the block to shake off excess water, especially helpful for wheels and tires. Next I use use a California water blade to get excess water off painted areas and windows. Then dry with the micro-fiber towel. Finish with Mequires Quick Detailer, using a micro-fiber cloth to buff.
Thanks everyone for the tips! I only had the filter in for two prior washings. Perhaps my water quality is poor. I haven't applied a good wax yet (only 6 weeks new) so this may help. In any event, thanks again for your feedback.
