Default Avoiding those tiny scratches.....

I just bought this stuff:

This pic is a bit deceptive - the grit guard is a perfect fit in the bottom of the bucket.

The Grit Guard fits in any bucket with an inner bottom diameter of 10.2 inches or greater. The 5 gallon pail-bucket I bought provides a perfect fit for the guard. I've always been a bit concerned about sand and other "stuff" that comes off the terry-cloth towel, sitting on the bottom of the pail, just waiting to be picked up again by the cloth and scraped across the car's paint. This product prevents this from happening.

I paid about $7 for the grit guard (part number 3542) and $4 for the 5 gallon pail (part number 3826 at www.usplastic.com.

Those are a great addition to a wash routine.

Good pic -- I know that question comes up often in here.
I have one also. I still use two buckets about 90% of the time. But there are other times when I'm lazy - and just count on the grit gard and frequent hose rinsing of my mitt .

Definitely better avoiding scratches, than spending 2 hours removing them.

...especially if you get caught in a rainstorm and end up with lots of mud on the car! Eventually, I'll get another guard/pail set, since the other pails I have are too small. The nice thing about the 5-gallon pail is that I can fill it just once (for my C5, anyway); that in itself is worth the $4 for the pail.

If you know anybody with a pool that uses powder chlorine and buys it by the 25 or 50 lbs they will have tons of empty buckets just like that that they throw away. This is what I use. Just make sure you rinse it out first.

I buy all my casting cups (to cast shift ***** and other stuff) from US Plastics. I agree that they have good prices and an incredible inventory of all things plastic.
