Default NXT Warning

Just a heads up. NXT gives a great shine, but will not protect your paint. Yesterday between 1 and 4pm a bird decided to bomb my vette. I washed it of as soon as I got home and it had already etched the clearcoat within approximately 3 hours and on a cloudy day at that. I hate to see what would have happened on a hot sunny day. I tried to remove it with scratch out but the etching did not polish out altogether. It has been only a week since I applied the NXT so I would have thought it would protect better than that.

Mike,

I don't think I've ever found a product that will protect a vehicles finish from bird bombs. I always carry a bottle of detail spray in the car just in case that happens. I remove it as soon as possible.

NXT is ok for a show wax but soon as it is exposed to the elements (whichever they may be) it deteriorates very quick.

Bird droppings contain a high concentration of uric acid.

As soon as the bomb hits you have to wash it off or it will quickly etch the finish.

I learned a valuable lesson on this one. I thought it would be OK until I got it home.

I was planning to use the NXT followed with a coat or 2 of thier liquid Deep Crystal Carnauba Wax. I may rethink it.

I had quite the opposite experience 3 days ago. (I had applied NXT 3 weeks ago.) When I went out after work, I found a present from a generous bird on the top of the rear deck, right at the base of the windshield. I carry a bottle of NXT Quick Detailer with me, but figured I'd just wait another 20 minutes and do it when I got home.

I was debating whether to wash it off with water, but instead chose to hit it with the NXT Quick Detailer. I have no idea how long it was on the car. Could have been more than 8 hours. It was all dried-up looking. But, a quick shot with the QD, and it came off like nobody's business, with no signs of ever having been there. Easiest dropping removal I have ever experienced.

It depends on what the birds eat. Around here it is like pure acid. One of the big reasons I use Zaino is the protection, it buys me some extra time. I use to get bird etchings all the time, but in the 8-9 years I've used Zaino I haven't had a single one. But it will eat through anything and fast, so it is always important to keep a towel and detailer in the car, just in case.

location also has a big effect on time and drying. Being further up north we can get away with an extra hr or so, especially now, since its not hot out yet. Black will probably be the worst since it has the most absorption properties of sunlight and containing heat. On a black car anywhere in the US, time is crucial in quick removal

I only use NXT and have good luck with it. My vette is my daily driver and I don't have time to do the Zaino thing, I also use it on my Harley. I keep a spray bottle of plain water in the trunk and wipe bird bombs off fairly quick. I'm a senior and don't believe in wasting time on old methods. I love technology and the benefits it gives, these newer cleaners are they way to go. I wax both of my rides three times a year, spring mid-summer and the fall and mine sits in a driveway at home because i don't have a garage.

Stick with Zaino or even Klasse AIO and Klasse sealant acrylic protection.

NXT is not my favorite, but it is ok.
I don't think this is a reason to abandon NXT. If you're happy with the product otherwise, stay with it. All the Zaino in the world, Pinnacle Souveran, Rejex - whatever - cannot form a truly protective barrier against the bird bomb.

I bought a bottle of NXT last January. I liked the shine, doesn't streak, but didn't last as long as I would like to. I don't want to trash it, so I'm thinking about using it on my daily driver and perhaps get a QD to boost its durability. I think it's a very good product from that standpoint, and it hasn't dried up last time I checked.
