I just purchased NXT to wax my '00 Coupe. I have never waxed a car before. I have a couple of questions I hope I can get some help with! First, when I dried it I have some water spots on it! How can I get water spots off before waxing it? On the wax bottle it says not to wax in sunlight, perhaps I am a little ignorant in waxing a car but if I don't have a large enough garage where do I wax the car? OK, last like I said I have never waxed a car before so any advice would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks a lot!!!
Detailing your cars can be a great hobby. The first thing is to decide how you are going to do it. Are you looking for one product (AIO-All In One) that will do most things at once or seperately to specialize in each area. (Wash, clay, polishing, protecting)
Water spots --- likely due to minerals and acid rain that has sat on the cars finish to long. Try wiping with white vinegar. If no luck, then you need to move onto polishing (abrasive) in order to move marks. Finally if etched deep into paint you will likely need to wet-sand as final choice.
NXT --- a synthetic wax (commonly called a paint sealant) that most will agree has limited durability. It looks nice, and has a very light paint cleaner in it. You will use it more often, or look into its Spray Booster. As for most products, do not use in direct sunlight. Use side of home, buildings, and shade whereever possible. If you need a line that works extremely well in sunlight, look to Poorboys.
In the afternoon/evening, my garage shades the driveway. What I typically do is wash, dry, and put wax on in the evening. I'll then pull the car in the garage and let the wax sit overnight and go out the next day and take the wax off. That's with using NXT. No particular reason to let the wax sit overnight other than I'm usually out of time and/or energy to take it off until the next day.
