Default Tech Wax

Has anyone used the Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax? Used it on my black 04 Vert...and it "streaked" really badly. When I purchased it, the guy at the auto parts store said he had heard it caused problems with dark cars...but I've used their products for years so I bought it anyway. Now my hood looks like it has dark streaks in the sunlight...

I followed the instructions exactly. Now that that my Vette looks like I brush painted it...what do I do to solve the problem? Any ideas or suggestions?

I'd wash it a couple of times with Dawn dishwashing liquid. It is known to remove all wax from a Vette.
Dry and rewax.

Try a post in the "Car Care" section under "General Corvette." But my suggestion would be to wash with Dawn to strip all that crap off and use something from Meguiar's or, better yet, Zaino. I also have a black C5, and Zaino is the best I've found.

Sounds like it did not dry, how heavy did you put it on?

Put it on per the instructions...let it dry to a haze. Used "Scratch X" in a couple of places before I put it on. Just buffed it out as usual. I've had three C-5s and this is the first time I've had a problem with a wax product. I've seen a lot on the Forum about Zaino...sounds like that's the way to go.

I ahve had both and I love NTX over a Z base. I put it on with buffer and take off as well. This stuff like to be applied in the shade big time as it dries fast I found that out the hard way, and had to do a little cleaner wax to get off the excess... or like above, dawn cuts through everything. Good luck man!

NXT is excellent and is just as good as Zaino IMO without the long wait for refill.

Well this is one of those areas where everyone has their own opinion. But I have used NXT and Zaino plus just about everything else out there. I have a cabinet in my garage full of care products I don't use any more because I finally tried Zaino and it is great.

It took me a long time to make the switch because I perceived the application as difficult. I was so wrong. Once I got the Z2 Pro on it got easy. First of all the stuff will last forever. This is because they offer a detailer spray and the Z8 Grand Finale both of which boost the Z2. These spray and wipe products actually make caring for the car easier.

In my experience the NXT looked good for about two weeks and then it had to be done again. With the Zaino I can normally have the car looking great in about 10 minutes. However let me be honest and point out that I almost never drive in the rain so I can go a long time without a full wash. But even after a wash (with the Zaino Z7 car wash) and dry the spray on Z8 Grand Finale has me looking great in 10 minutes.

So you guys do what you want but as for me I will stick with Zaino. And oh yea, I have a best in class and an outstanding in class award from Autorama that Zaino helped me get.

Can you hook me up with any NXT you have that you will not be using? Thanks

Thanks so much for all your input! I'll go back and wash it with "Dawn" and then use the Tech Wax again.

Cool thing about the Forum...I've been able to buy new tires (make the right decision - love my Goodyear non-run flats, hockey pucks, fix the rattle in my convertible top, and paint my calipers...and much, much more...all thanks to the "Brotherhood of Corvette Owners."

Thanks again for all your help!

If you haven't used the Dawn yet, get some Meguiars quick detailer spray and mist it down and wipe it off. It will most likely take care of your streaks.

I have also found that NXT doesn't last very long. It does look good when you first put it on. I am currently using Klasse All-In-One and sealant glaze and like them.

You need to put NXT on very thin, it sounds like you used too much.

Don't wax it in the sun and use much less wax.

That is a proven Myth .....as far as the NXT streaking. Sounds like it went on WAY to heavy.
Like someone else mentioned use a detaler and rewipe the area and it will even it out.

Could you post a link that shows washing with dawn is a proven myth to removing wax. I've used this method before and it sure did seem like it removed the wax pretty well.

Thanks
