Default Ragg Topp application

Just goofing off this afternoon. Applied the Ragg Topp sealant. Here's some pictures of the vert sealed off with 1mm plastic dropcloths. I used some painters tape and some paper under the direct edge area of application and then slipped the plastic (new only) over the rear and front with the top collasped up and folded it down on the plastic. Sealed it off pretty good and tapped off the rear window and side weatherstrip.

Top should be good to go for a few more months of summer!

after a couple coats:

Done and ready to remove the prep work

Is that type of coverage required?

Well you don't want to get that spray on anything.

So the prep work is necessary. Its easier than it looks just two drop cloths and some tape.

Drops cloths it is. I need to do mine also. How long after you spray do you have to wait to put the roof down? Also, how did you prep the roof after washing? Did you brush the roof with something? Thanks for the info.

I just used a few paper towels and sprayed a few coats wiping down overspray after each coat.I would not have the time and patience to cover everything with a drop cloth

Well as it says in the instructions until its dry and the sun will help accellerate that. The RaggTopp kit for fabric tops is like $29. and has the cleaner and sealant inside. I also bought one of those brushes with the split end bristles its real soft. Here's a picture of it sitting on my table:

I washed the Vette and first I squirted the wet top with the cleaner, brushed it in good and rinsed. Finished and dried the car. It is important that the top is completely dry before apply the sealant so I let it sit overnight.

First thing the next morning, I collapsed the top up vertical like when your going to put it down. Just for extra measure I had that painting paper roll so I put a couple pieces across the back and across the windshield. Then opened up two new 9x12 drop cloths and pulled the front one all the way to the rear of the side windows and one across the back, then set the top back down (unlatched). I then tapped up a few areas to keep the plastic in place plus I tapped off the weatherstrip exposed on the sides and the rear window. Followed the directions on the can and sprayed it on. Waited 15 min between coats and I got about 3 coats out of one can.

Once that was done I removed all the plastic and just set the top back down and removed the paper/tape from rear window. Moved the Vette out to the drive way and let the sun finish the job.

That was it. I put the top down a few hours later and went driving.

That prep work may look a little extreme, but as he said it's easier than it looks and saves a lot of potential trouble. I did something similar with some old sheets and newspaper.
Make sure your top is dry from the cleaner, at least over night, more if there is any doubt.
Good job.

Nice job! What kind of brush did you use to clean the top with? I got a recommendation from a forum vendor a few months back, bought the brush, and it left a lot of lint on my top. I had to use a lint roller to get it all off. I'm looking for a good brush that won't leave lint all over my top.

This brush works very well. No lint at all. Very soft . Click on pic, then go to "detailing". I got the brush at ACE hardware store. Helpmate Body Suds brush, product number V5607.

Thanks! I'll see if I can find one. Just FYI: steer clear of the OXO Good Grip brush. It was horrible.

What section did you find this brush?

How do you clean bird droppings off on a fabric top? Thanks.
