Default Bugs

What does everyone use to remove bug spalts from their cars. I have a black coupe with several coats of Zaino on it, but still get bug splats on the nose. The problem is I wash the car in zaino car wash, and it looks like the bug splats are gone. However when I dry it, and get ready to apply Z6 some bug splats are still there. Bugs suckkkkk :mad

I live in Florida, Love Bug capital of the world. Lots of Zaino on the nose and washing the critters off as soon as possible with some car wash is about the only thing you can do. Don't let them bake.

Will the claybar remove the Zaino?

I alway used a pair of panty hose with knots tied in them to gently remove bugs from my Trans Am. I got the idea from an old hotrod magazine. It never did scratch the paint but I did not have Zaino on it, just paste wax. I live in Florida also, so I know the curse of lovebugs.

Just an old way I used to do it... I hope with the Zaino, they will come off easier.

pantyhose are nylon?, and I would think that would be bad. I'd use the 100% cotton towels that are recommended on the forum. Also, the splats you see in direct sunlight are probably etching in the clearcoat. As the previous post said, get the bugs off ASAP-especially on a hot sunny day. Etching occurs within a few hours, if not minutes after "impact." Otherwise, get a bra to keep the bugs off your front bumper if you can't wash your car often.

1. Bugs contain acids in their bodies that can eat away at paint and any kind of wax or polish if left on too long

2. Bugs cause two kinds of damage, above the surface which can be removed with a clay bar, claying will not remove all Zaino.

3. The other kind is sometimes bugs etch the paint which is slightly below the surface and thus the clay bar can not touch it, in that case just use a mild polishing compound like 3M Swirl Remover 39009 or Meguiars Body Scrub to fix the problem and reapply the Zaino.

4. Always keeps Z-6 fresh on the front, makes bug removal very easy, I just remove bugs often with my towel and the Z-6.

A couple of frosts already have zapped most of the bug population here, but the summer population is pretty bad. With fresh Zaino I can wipe them off the nose easily after each excursion.

I like to use distilled water in a spray bottle to make removal easy. :smash:

Always carry Z06 and a cotton towel, Takes just seconds when you stop to keep the front clean. One day in the sun and you can have them etch into the clear coat. :smash:
