Menzerna Products:
Like polishing glass, the smoother you make the paint or clear coat, the more pronounced the reflection. The limiting factor of any polish is the size of the abrasive particle used. The smaller the abrasive, the smoother you can burnish the finish. The very fine tolerance of abrasive particle size used by Menzerna polishes allows for a consistent breakdown and thus consistent micro marring free finish when used. These abrasives are designed to fracture under heat and pressure into progressively finer and finer particles.

These diminishing abrasive polishes are foam pad ‘dependant’ as far as its paint correction / renovation abilities are concerned and they appear to work better when the foam pad is ‘primed’ (a very slightly distilled water dampened foam; do not use a quick detailer (QD) as most are formulated with either a wax or a polymer; however they are not easily adaptable to a spray formula. To be efficient they need to be emulsified to work as a spray, to facilitate this they need to use an emulsion of silicone oils and water. The wax will reduce the friction heat, negatively impacting the diminishing abrasives; silicon-based products can also have a negative effect on the surface / polish lubrication oils used by Menzerna causing surface smearing.

I'm still not convinced that a buffer can produce the friction heat required to breakdown the abrasives used in these products.

I have used a PC with a 'Slow Hand' method to successfully apply these products, but that's the subject of another thread...

I'm still laughing at that 'bug appendix' comment.

Hey Bugman, I'm sure glad you found the culprit to be tar from a pine. I was looking closely for imprints of body markings being pressed up against the hood

Ok, Mrs. Passat, now that your car looks like new again, heed your brother-in-law's advice on upkeep. If he comes back in 6 months with more pictures of bug spleen and nuclear tree sap, you may find a group of crazy car detailing guys paying you a visit in the middle of the night! Beware, if you find car wax wrapped up in newspaper on your door step j/k

Although, if you need bugs removed from your front end, who better to call than the "Bugman"

p.s. I noticed you didn't use the z16 on the V-dub
