I spent a few hours yesterday trying to remove a few scratches from my 02 EB Vert. but didn't have great success, although there was some improvement. The most aggressive combination I have is a PC with the Orange pad and XMT intermediate polish. I don't want to get anything too aggressive but what would be my next step to try? The scratches are spider webs and some minor scratches from wiping it down, nothing that you can feel, but if the light hits it just right you can see them. Thanks!
I've had several people tell me Menzerna SIP or IP. I've got the same color LMB, it is very senstive to light scratches.
EB and LMB are two different colors.
I'm not familiar with the XMT, but I had pretty good luck with MIP/orange, followed by ZPC/orange.
The dark blues are tough.
That is what I thought, but they look so close and I've heard people say they were the same. I thought perhaps they just renamed it for the CE. At any rate, they are very close and will have similar swirl issues.
I'm fond of this chart for rating the comparative aggressiveness of various products. Super Intensive Polish is not shown, but I think it's about the same as IP. And not sure whether "XMT imtermediate" compares to their #2. But it's a useful chart.
I would not go any more aggressive than SIP with a ROB. I would also be careful with the orange pad. Some orange pads are too stiff and will leave a LOT of micro marring that cannot be removed with a ROB. My suggestion is to tape off an edge so you have something to compare against so you can make sure you fully returned the shiine when using a orange/cutting pad.
...pretty good luck with MIP/orange, followed by ZPC/orange.
But just to keep things confusing, I tried Menzerna 106ff polish this past weekend and it was phenomenal ! Still I think the MIP has more cut to it, but the 106 afterward really left a nice finish.
