I have a coat of Zaino on my Jeep Cherokee that I put on about a month ago. It's getting too cold up here to wash it by hand and was wondering if the automatic car wash will take it off.
I know that they aren't good for the paint (it's black too) but it's my winter car and I guess I just have to deal with the swirl marks I get from them.
Funny you should ask. I use Zaino on my Cherokee and have occasion lately to wash it about 3 times at one of the do-it-yourself washes. It doesn't seem to have affected the Zaino so far, still beads and looks great. I still don't intend to make a habit, I like my Z-7 car wash.
It gets too cold around here to drag out the bucket and hose for a good Z-7 cleaning starting in December and ending in early April. I'll be using the $.25 car wash when there is a break in the temperature. I did this last year with no ill effects. In fact, I have never had so many compliments on the car this past year even when it was brand new. I'm talking about my '96 Blazer not the Corvette. I know the protection will be there in the spring when I start to Z-7 it again. :)

Although high pressure water is for sure not the best thing for your paint or your car in general, you gotta do what you gotta do. Just do not use any of the brushes on a stick things the car washes have. Personally I have NEVER had any luck with any kind of wand car washer without laying hands on the car and washing it with car wash and my cotton washing mits anyway.
Find a "touchless" car wash for this. I've used the "touchless" car washes a couple times on my ZO6. I thought that was the best way to wash it, since nothing actually touches the car. Then practicality set in and I found some issues:
- Most washes have guides for the tires. they are too skinny for my back tires, so I actually rode up over them! Never tempt the scratch monster by doing that again.
- The second place's air dryer just blew the water everywhere.
After these challenges, I've gone back to washing by had until I see another one that looks tempting!
I would never use anything but the "pressure wash" variety. Other than for flushing major road crud they will not really clean the car. There is no real alternative to "hand wash".
