I just got the PC (7424) and it came with a white pad. Could someone fill me in on what other pieces I need to do the ride right? I have some water spotting, swirls and minor scratching. I'm really not up on what color pad to use for different processes nor even what product is good for what ails my paint.
I viewed Junkman2008's "How To" thread and think that I should start with the product he used on his first step. But then what? I did not notice if he used a clay bar to start his process, did I miss something?

Please educate me.
First off, throw the pad that came with the buffer away, it is cheap screw on type glued to a non flexiable piece of plastic, no suited for use on auto paint IMHO.
You will need a velcro backer plate and several quick change pads of different density. I use http://www.lakecountrymfg.com pads myself. I have a orange, yellow, white, and black pad. The orange and yellow are the most aggresive pads and made for more cutting power, the white is a middle grade pad and the black is a finishing pad.
I use have used Zaino ZPC with the orange, yellow, and white on different occasions depending on the level of paint correction I was working on that day. It would be safe for a novice just to start with the ZPC and the white pad as the white pad is least aggresive.
You have a choice, use the Edge system (adapter and dual sided pads) , or a flexible backing plate and hook/loop pads. Lake Country makes our Wolfgang pads and we have several kits. Some come with polishes, and you will likely want the Menzerna kit with SIP/106FF for best results.
