Dash Cleaning
The old wives tales are just that! Not a single bit of scientific evidence or in most cases first hand knowledge when these accusations are being made.I used (former tense) Armor All on the leading candidate for cracked dashes (240Z and later a 280Z) for over 12 yrs. on the 240 and around 5 for the 280, neither one ever had even a hairline crack. The reason I switched was that other products offered a lower gloss shine which looks more natural.
Who gives a rat's bottom if lots of people don't want to use Armorall; I just wish they would stop trotting out the "I heard" chitt.
Yeah I too don't use it on top of my dash but solely because of the shine. It fades in a few days on my other interior surfaces though. Maybe Armorall have a low-shine variety.
What I *do* know is this - after years of treating my weatherstrips with other stuff, after one year of treating them with Armorall (original formula) they have never felt so nice. My buddy's mint '84 C4 got me onto it.
