Default Engine Cleaning

I'm looking at cleaning the engines on our Vette's. So I'm looking for suggestions on engine degreaser's that I would be able to use on them. I want to get them as clean as possible. Also looking for suggested ways in doing this process.

I would stay away from Simple Green. Too many potential problems with it.

P21 Total Auto Wash is going to be the best option, IMO. Others would be Meguiar's APC/APC+, etc.

Would either of these remove built up dirt on the engine... Mine is an 02 but my wifes' is a 99 with over 75K on the clock. So I know the engine is pretty dirty...

They should.

Slightly warm the engine. Lightly wet it down (being careful of electronics). Thoroughly apply degreaser to areas needed and allow to dwell for a few minutes, but do not let dry. Agitate heavily soiled areas with a soft brush, and rinse.

Once cleaned to your satisfaction, generously apply a water-based dressing and let the engine run for a few minutes to aid drying and set dressing.

If you want a commercial grade all purpose cleaner that has a multitude of uses pick up some of our Extra Special Cleaner. It will have your engine free of dirt, grime, oil seepage etc in no time. Priced very reasonably at $9.95 for a gallon which is concentrated. Also works great around the home.

For your particular application I would dilute it 50/50 for the extremely dirty areas and load it into a spray bottle. Agitate it wil a brush the rinse it off. Follow up with a waterbased dressing and your all set.

Click The Pic Below To Check It Out On Our Website.

Extra Special Cleaner is our premium multipurpose cleaner for interior/exterior use. Extra has the most surfactant (cleaning power) of all the all purpose cleaners we produce and no dye so its great on any surface. Extra works great on velour, vinyl, carpets, as well as tires, wheels and even engines. The unique forumla also breaks down organic stains and leaves a nice fresh pepermint fragrance behind as it cleans. This product is concentrated and has a dilution rate of 4:1 for general cleaning but can be used 1:1 for greasy engine areas. Extra can also be used for cleaning leather if diluted 10:1.

http://www.autogeek.net/p2totautwas.html (P21S)

or

http://www.autogeek.net/optimum-power-clean-apc.html (Optimum on BOGO)

both are great products for grime and dirt. Remember to coat lines with a non-silicone dressing like 303 and use Klasse AIO on painted parts. Often wiping down engine bay monthly avoids the need for harsher cleaning and water.

P21 I've had good result with it.

I like Simple Green for cleaning non aluminum parts / things only, It can discolor aluminum. Not worth the risk IMO.

Of these two products and include Meguiar's APC+, which would you consider the best product for all around cleaning? Such as wheel wells and engine bay.

Also can anyone provide any words of wisdom concerning this area, I want to clean under the FRC's on the engine (where the coil packs are). These can get pretty dirty and would like to clean them up as much as possible.

P21S Total Wash is so versatile, its my personal choice. Amazing Roll-off is about the only other product I might consider and use it for tires/wheelwells and wife uses it on PVC porch furntiture and stuff. I have never used ARO on engine personally.

When using P21S Total Wash on the engine, is rinsing necessary or just wipe off? Are there any surfaces or materials in the engine compartment to avoid when using P21S?

This sounds like a great product and I am thinking about ordering right now!
