What it comes down to is save your money and get the tool that will do the job or waste your money on a battery powered buffer. I've not seen a battery powered buffer worth the money. If one of the companies like Megs, Griots, Porter-Cable, etc., comes out with one, it might be worth a look, but the low line stuff sold by mass market stores just can't do the job of anything but lightening your wallet.
