Would like to know what everyone is using when detailing your engine compartment ? Thanks in advance for your responses.
303 Protectant and other "water based" dressings are great under the hood. They don't use silicones which attract dust/dirt and hold it. If you need to clean the area first, consider a damp towel with some APC. I also use a small can of compressed air to blow sand and dirt out of the corners around the hinges.
Last time I did a full engine compartment detail, I used Gunk engine cleaner for the block and general all purpose cleaner for everything else. I used CD2 engine detailer for the block and hotter parts. Everything was available over the counter at Autozone. I have started using Aerospace 303 recently (picked it up at Ace Hardware) and it is also pretty darn good.
Aerospace 303!! Works great on all under hood rubber, plastic, etc. and inside the car, too. If you can't find it at an auto parts store try a boat and marine shop. Great stuff!
I use P21S Total Auto Wash to clean the area.
Cool engine, spray on everything, let sit 5-10 mins and wash off with hose.
Incredible stuff.
I agree, dress with a Aerospace 303 if you want.
With the engine cool, wipe on and remove excess with a different towel, basically following the directions on the bottle. Just be careful not to put too much on or it will streak. Everything plastic, and all hoses too.
