Default 10 year old paint with fine scratches.

I recently purchased a 2006 red Coupe and the previous owners did not do a great job keeping it looking good. I have spent a couple days working with it and I have got the shine to where I think it should be however I still can NOT get rid of the small scratches. They are not deep and really only viable under direct light however they have to go.

I have tried every compound I have using the high speed buffer (including 3M machine polish #2) and foam pad and no luck. I am almost to the point to start wet sanding and going from there BUT I really hate to have to go that far with it.

Before I get busy with the sandpaper any of the suppliers on here have a suggestion on a product to try?

have you tried using a correcting compound or polish with a microfiber pad?

you may want to check out Adam's Blue Heavy Duty Correcting Compound, Paint Correcting Polish, and finish it off with Paint Finishing Polish.

See links below...................

Do you mean 3M's Perfect-it 2? If so that is more a final polish and you would need something more aggressive.
Menzerna FG-400.
What polisher and pad's are you using. Pad choice is more important than polisher ( unless it's one of those Big Box Store jobbies= junk)

Yes I used the 3M perfect it 3 step and the foam pads associated with all 3 pads.

I also used some of the Adams compound that I have used on many vehicles before and not sure they even sell it anymore, it is a dark gray color compound. It has worked great in the past however this car these options did not do anything other than make the scratches high gloss.

only dark gray I remember from Adams was the Machine Polish.

I seriously would look at FG-400 or Megs 105. They are totally different designs however. FG-400 is a DAT and the Megs is SMAT. You choose which suit's your liking better.
Didn't say what polisher. I'd go the LC 5" pad's Orange or Yellow( which is the more aggressive of the 2-vettes paint is somewhat hard

well I like the look of that. I might have to give that a try on the black Z06 as well. I have a PC orbital however I need to buy the hook and loop backing pad for it.

I was using a variable speed rotary buffer trying to get it to cut with the other product.

just go to their website............

www.adamspolishes.com

check out their forums as well.............. additional discount given to their forum members..............

the Adam's site also would have dealer in your area, although I think Lingenfelter in IN may be the closest to you...............
