Self Healing Ceramic Coating - It really works
So a coworker saw something on my car and decided to be "helpful" by wiping it off for me. Before I could stop him - scratch mod was installed free of charge on my 2017 Black Z06.
So, quoting Rahm Emanuel, "never let a crisis go to waste."
After having my car ceramic coated with a brand that claims "self healing" properties. Hoping the day I would have to test it would never arrive. Life had other plans in store. The day to finally put it to the test came today.
Below actual elapsed time is about 15 minutes using a heat gun set at 120 - 140 deg F.
Great....
It's going away!
Almost gone!
Maybe apply a few more minutes with the heat gun
All without buffing or polishing.

What ceramic coating is this? Never head of one with such a claim.

I'll admit I was skeptical that it would really work when my detailer suggested trying it. I figured the worst that could happen is the same with any coating/wax - once a scratch was introduced I would just have to plan to polish and re-coat in the future. I for one however now am glad I agreed to try the coating.

It wasn't grinding, however - shop rags should not be used to wipe off a car...

Glad I came across this thread. Have to check this out a bit more but seems like a great product from the limited time I've spent on their site.

I have talked to them and am now an installer. This team truly gets it. I had a ton of suspicions about ceramics and the maintenance, and after my discussion with their team, walked away feeling I can now deliver a much higher quality coating install and can deliver an incredible maintenance experience for my customers

The self-healing products are pro/installer only. There is one compsny out there that I can't recall that will provide a purportedly self healing product to consumers.
Feynlab are indeed some nice folks and they have some solid and reasonably priced consumer offerings. Recently did a Race Red Ford with their Ceramic and Topcoat, very easy to use, very slick, apoearance best described as 'brilliant.
Would be interested to hear any differences in application between self healing and non self healing coatings.
