Default Clear coat on ABS plastic

Can ABS black plastic be finished with just clear coat paint after proper prep? I'm thinking of cleaning it real well with degreaser and then some 0000 steel wool to polish.

Exactly what parts are you thinking about clearing? It makes a difference due to the material the part is made of and where it is located on the car. You can clear almost anything if you use the proper materials for the specific application.

If you are talking about the side skirts for the C6, aftermarket, I have seen many successful paint/clearing jobs done on them. Think you could just clear them, if desired, but curious as to how the base material looks when prep'd properly. Be aware that no matter what you do, the "Gurney Flaps" before the rear tire will chip. I had them PPF'd, but that material just chipped like heck over time. Needs to be redone at this point.....

I would just go ahead had have them painted. To keep the rock chipping down have them wrapped with clear flim.
