First a deep clean top to bottom with a variety of products, then hours of detail work to get any dirt out of every nook and cranny. After everything is spotless then depending on your credit card limit and imagination start to customize the engine bay with all the goodies available from Forum vendors. Once it is clean it is easy to keep clean with regular maintenance .

Not really any secret science to this. There are a gazillion cleaning products on the market from many, many manufacturers. Once your engine bay is clean, there are another gazillion products available to protect and enhance the appearance.
For cleaning, I use a 10:1 dilution ratio of Meg's and 3D all-purpose cleaners under the hoods of my vehicles.
For protecting underhood black cowl panels, black hood seals, fluid reservoirs, etc. I use 303 Aerospace protectant.
For protecting hard-to-reach hoses, plastic wire covers, etc., I use Meguiar's Vinyl & Plastic Coating aerosol.
For protecting my painted fender covers and fuel rail covers, I use Finish Kare 1000P Hi-Temp paste sealant.
Once you spend several hours initially fully-detailing the engine bay, regular maintenance after that is much easier. It usually doesn't require more than a good wipe-down with a detail spray.

Just had by Jeep done. $80.00, did not want all that greae/dirt in my drive way. Now I can finish it up myself.
