Question, wont a duster by its very nature of gliding a dry cloth over a dry car cause some kind of scratches, even if micro sized?

How well does it work compared to the California Car Duster? I assume it's some kind of microfiber.

I thing it works very nice. When I get to a show and want to knock of the road dust is when I use it. I don't see any scratches. It seems very light. It would be nice if someone who knows more then me would try it and let us know.

I'll see if I can find one at my local Wally World. I use the California Car Dusters for very light dust on my garaged, otherwise clean cars.. Many say they can cause scratches. Of course, constant washing can also introduce fine scratches, unless done properly. The idea of a microfiber duster is interesting to me.

I use one of these. Pure lambswool. It will not scratch the finish and the natural oil in the lambswool picks up the dust without leaving any residue behind. To clean it, you just shake it out. It really works great.

Not if used properly. The trick is to LIGHTLY glide the duster over the paint...do not rub the duster on the paint. I have been using the California Duster since 2003 and I am very pleased how the finish looks. After reading about the Lamb's Wool Duster (24" @ Home Depot $9.97) I might give it a try.

Just a warning: Don't expect it to pick up every speck of dust like the California Waxy Dirty Mop. The lambswool natural static charge is weak, so it will pick up maybe half of the dust. The remaining half gets pushed off the car. Not pushed like dragged across the surface causing scratches, but almost pushed like Yoda was using The Force. And with less force than if you were driving the car down the road and the dust blew off. It is just super-soft, stays amazingly clean, and I have yet to see any marks on my waxed finish from using this thing regularly. I am actually buying a second one just to keep in my trunk for car shows and meets, and the other one will stay in my garage. Love them!

Like any cleaning tool a Lambs Wool cleaner need to be washed with soapy water to remove the caked on dirt. After washing ans drying you need to add Glycerin to the duster.

If your duster gets "caked on dirt", you are using it incorrectly. These are for very fine dust particles, not for heavy dirt. Most light dust particles are literally thrown off the lambswool duster when you spin it in your hands to fluff it when it breaks the static charge. Especially considering you are only using the very ends of the fibers to remove dust. Yes, any duster needs to be cleaned if it gets filthy. However, considering how clean this duster stays, I don't see any need to wash it until like 2024. Even when washed, most gentle soaps won't remove the lanolin from the fibers. Glycerin can definitely be added to replace any lost oils, but I don't ever see me needing to do that. All I know is these things are perfect for light dust on cars!

^^ Exactly. If it gets too dirty by 2024 or sooner, it's $13 for a new one lol, I spend that on one bottle of Sonax glass cleaner every couple of months

That looks like a specialty wash/scrub microfiber that I have for washing your car, not a duster.....will have to keep an eye out for it.

I read this thread and was very interested as my black corvette really shows the dust. I picked one up at Bed Bath and Beyond. I am very happy as. You can see it push the dust off and leaves no marks on the car.
In fact I picked one up for the wheels only and it works great.
Thanks

Been using one for several years for washing cars and wheel spokes. Very good. Not really a duster.
