Buffer/Polishing Question
Been using Zaino on my black vette for the past few month and haven't been 100% happy with the results. Although it is shinny, it's just not a deep enough shine for me. Also bird droppings really etch it and it the paint never feels slippery when I touch it like a good carnauba wax gives. So I'm going back to my Meguiers/3m routine that I've been satisfied with. I have some of the typical everyday surface scratches that everyone gets on the rear trunk lid and tops of the quarter panels that I want to buff out. I know how to do it as I've successfully done all my cars in the past using circular buffers although I'm planning on using an orbital on this job since the imperfections are very, very slight but I'm a perfectionist and want them completely gone.
The factory paint on the Vette is very orange pealed, (GM's paint process really needs to get with the times but that's another story) when I go to buff out my surface scratches am I going to create flat spots in the paint? If so I may be spending longer than I thought I would as I'll then need to level the entire paint job on the car. My question, has anyone else run into a minor scratch touchup only to find they then needed to redo the entire car to make it uniform? Thanks in advance for any feedback! Terry
Leave the orange peel, it wouldn't be original without it.
I had my Black T/A wetsanded, and it took several hours to remove most of the orange peel. Looked like a mirror. As for the deeper shine, look to Pinnacle Soveran. Theirs a coupon in this section also !
