Default Difference between 1/8mph and 1/4mph Question.

I have been saving my slips for comparison.

I have 350RWP and Tq along with a 6 speed and 4.10 gears.. My problem is launching the beast and getting it all to the track in 1st gear.

I can't get under 2.0 60' and usually end up 12.9 to 13.0 at 112-113mph.

I realize doing this on Street tire is futile but I plan to get a set of DR's shortly..

I noticed a trend on my sheets that was surprising.. I started analyzing the MPH gain may car makes from the 1/8 mile to the 1/4 mile. I am assuming at that point there is no more tire slip.

I have consistantly produced anywhere from 21 to a 25mph gain.
In 2 cases where I knew the person I was racing against with significantly more HP I was the same or better on the this gain..

Case 1 - Other guy had 385rwhp, Auto 3.73 gears He end up with 12.0 and had a 22.95mph gain and I end up with 13.0 with a 24.72mph gain.

I can even see in a video where I am reeling him in.

Case 2 - Other guy 460rwhp, Auto 3.42 gears He ends up with a 12.01 and had a 25.33mph gain. I end up with a 13.0 again with a 23.31mph gain.

I guess my point is that I THINK I have an 11 second car IF I can lay 1st gear to the track at WOT... All my problems seem to be at the little end...

Get an AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION !!!! For years I had a an M-20 with 3.73 rear. The mph was always up around 116-117 mph (I knew I had an 11 second motor). I wanted 11's sooooo bad. But it was very hard to get under 2.0 60' without breaking something. I was running 12.1s/12.2s consistantly when I didn't break something in the rearend. Had a TH350 "built" and stepped up to a 4.11 rear and ran a best of 11.52. The 4.11 rear took away some of the drivability. Then had a 700R4 "built" and now my best stands at 11.48.

Funny thing is the 4.10 for a 6speed is perfect. At 80mph cruising I am turning 2100rpm.. I think that is still less than a stock A4...

My HP is still low enough that I should not break anything on the rear with DR's What do you think I should be able to pull with my setup and DR's?

But seriously.. The question was.. CAN I HIT 11.99 with Drag Radials?

If I can leave in first gear @ WOT and stay there without slippage or wheel hop till I hit 6200rpm I really think this car will pull like a freight train.

By the way bro.. you are still my idol. you got me started at the track.. incidently, you were the guy I was referring to in case number one.. I still have my Time slip and the video you sent me..

Your idol..? :bb :bb ..Oh my :bb :bb

If your running mid-hi 12's with street tires ...then DR's will hopefully net you a 1.6X - 1.7X short time and you should realize much lower overall e.t's...11's? ....some good weather and quick shifting ..I guess it's possible Practice..Practice...Practice

A good set of DR's or better yet a set of E.T streets will be the best bang for the buck for you now Charlie All the Hp/TQ in the world is not very productive until you get it to the ground...
nuff said!

See you at the CC 2/5
