Default Launch technique

Installed a set of 3.42 gears and Yank SS3200 converter in my 04 with Vararam and LT headers.
Using Nitto RII 305/35 18 tires should I launch from an idle or higher rpm?
Anyone using a similar combination what did you find works best?

The r2's are not great launching tires.(stiff sidewalls). Comprable to f1 street tires on the strip but they stick better from a roll.

OK,
Because of the The tire issue stated earlier you will need to experiment.
Get or create a log book of your runs.
Note everything.
Burn out, temp, tire pressure, time of day, etc.
I would torque up to 1000 rpm, just over idle and start with that.
Then I would try again at 1200, then 1400, then 1600, etc.
Note your 60 ft times each time.
If you torque too much you will push right through the lights which you do not want.
You will see your 60 ft times improving or getting worse at certain rpm launches.
If you see you 60 ft times getting better then geting worse the higher you go you will be spinning, again, what you don't want.
You will find the best rpm for those tires.
Then you may want to experiment with tire pressure.
I know this is not the exact "launch at 1500 rpm" answer you want, but
tires/torque,track prep, tire pressure, temp, all play a part.

The main thing is learn something everytime you run, be safe, and have fun.

I understand the tire limitations but I solo 2 autocross more than I drag race and bought the Nitto RII tires a good compromise. I have three sets of wheels and tires for the car, any more would push my wife over the edge.
I was recording 2.01 - 2.04 short times with the runflats and the same same with the Nittos with the 3.15 gears and stock converter, the car bogged at launch with the Nittos. Only made two passes on the Nittos, probably should have increased the air pressure some.
On the street with the new gear and converter on Yokohama AVS Sport 295/35 18 I can smoke them like a NASCAR race winner either from a dead stop or a roll.

That's why you need to find out what is best for your car.
Same tire will act differently on diffrernt cars (torque, hp, gears, wieght, etc.)
I know what you mean about the wife and the tire thing.
I have two sets of tires for my truck and my WRX (winter/summer)
I have 14 wheels and tires for my vette
My garage looks like pit row.
Keep going to the track!
