Will this work out?
I got a new set of ET streets mounted up on a set of 17" rims for my 03Zo6. Question....Can I fit 1 tire in the front seat (in a bag) & the other tire in the trunk (partition removed) along w/ a small jack?
I'd prefer not to drive to the track on them, as I sold my BFG DR's. I figured maybe someone has tried this or does this already & it would save me doing a dry run...Thanks in advance!
Ron
Trunk??? What year car? I can fit the pair, stacked one on top of the other, in my C4. I can't go racing that way, because I need to carry too much other crap, and the tires don't leave much room for anything else. But to just transport the tires it works. If you want to split them up for SOME room in the back, one will fit up front.
RACE ON!!!
PS. My tires are only P255's. For anything much wider, you'll have to split them up.

Reason: PS.
About 10 times a year I swap on/off the DR's. The normal 18 inchers. I can BARELY get just the tire in the back without the rim in it. I have to compress the tire and force it in. I would bet you will not be able to fit it in the back with a rim. Who knows though, that one inch may help, or maybe deflate one tire completly so you can squeeze it in.... I believe that the width will be the problem, you will snag on the lock for the trunk, if it was not in the center of the car it would be no problem.
You can also put the tire in the back through the front door but again, its a tight fit and the width will be an issue, you will scuff up your interior in doing it.
Let us know becasue I wish to do the same in the future...
The different rim diameters don't seem to be the problem, because all of our late Corvette's have similar tire outside diameters. My same tires were borrowed by a friend with an '01, C5. They both fit in the back, but one was slid all the way to the rear and the other went forward of the first, with the forward part of the tire on the deck. It WAS tighter in his car then in my C4. The C5 doesn't seem to be quite as tall in back as the C4. His car is not a Z06. I don't know if there is a difference there or not. As I mentioned in my last post, wider tires wouldn't fit. One would have to go up front.
RACE ON!!!
PS. I my case, the tires were fully inflated at all times.

Well, I'll be doing a dry run this weekend some time. I'll post the results. Also, anyone know where I can get a CHEAP low profile jack to bring to the track? Mine is like 80lbs, so that won't work.
Thanks! Ron
