I shifted all the time with the stock shifter. I never used "D" or "3".

This is no different

Love the TH400. Had one on my 468 big block (not a Vette)

Decided against the Quicksilver or Megashifter because I did not want the long stick movement, plus the shaft is quite tall (for a C5).

Edgar it shouldn't be a problem, you can manually shift them now the shifter is not set up for an easy precise shift. Optimally you would have a shift kit (or reprogrammed shifts) to truely enjoy a ratchet shifter.

This is an old school mod before there were electronic transmissions that could be programmed to shift exactly how the driver wants. I am not sure I would actually use it while racing (the computer will still shift faster and more consistently), but they are a lot of fun on the street.

Chris,

Yes, you can get it with the B&M chrome T handle or with a custom handle like mine

I know this is a 15 year old thread, but somebody PLEASE tell me that the pics are archived someplace. I'll be undertaking a similar project in the next few weeks and can kinda visualize what's going on, but actually seeing it would be MUCH better.

Purplemamba here. I'd love to see your installation of the ratchet shifter into a c5 corvette. I have a b&m 81120, and I'm looking at all kinds of problems before I even get started. Help please!

I love when someone will say "I modified such and such" or I had to make a custom widget" or whatever and don't even show a picture what they did.

Like okay, what I am I supposed to do with that information?

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...et-shifer.html

This OP of this thread shows exactly what I want but says he made "custom brackets". Wish he showed what he did so I could do it.
