Default Solid axle rear question

A few questions for those running a solid axle rear end in a strickly drag car:
1. Is there a minimum (or optimim) amount of vertical movement that a solid axle should have?
2. Is more vertical movement better?
3. Do you use snubbers or some other restricting device to limit the amount of travel?

Thanks,
Charles

Charles,
I've got about an inch travel compression and about three inches "lift" travel
I have to use the stock spring. It's not a 4 link.
