That's the fastest backhalved car that I've ever heared about.. I always thought that backhalved cars are restricted to 7.50 due to NHRA regulations. I always thought that you need a full tube chasses to go faster than that...
I don't think so. I know there are backhalved Outlaw cars that go 6s and are NHRA certed.
I wonder what kind of safety equipment is required to run faster than 7.50???
There's a guy with a C3 (Big632) that has a backhalved C3 that would run in the 6's if he wouldn't have the electronics shut it down to only run 7.50 as he's not allowed to run faster than 7.50...
It might be a record for a single turbo car Super Street car at 3000 pounds with 10.5Ws.
I'm betting that this car runs big tires and probably weighs around 2700 pounds or so. It's still very impressive.
Good point!!! It is very impressive regardless of weight or tire. He talks about how it is street driven so I don't think its going to be too light but I could be wrong. I would love to see some video

A friend of mine drives a tube chassis '78 Vette around town.. He got a title and vin plate for a '78 Chevy 2-door and made the car streetable (larger fuel cell, lights and blinkers etc..) He weights in at a total of 2300 lbs with his 427 big block..

To clear the air a bit, my car weighs 3,150 without driver, per the rules for its class. It has certified to 6.00.
The 6.87 @ 210 was run with big tires. It has run 7.30s on the 10.5s. That's not anywhere near the record. Those guys are FLYING these days!
After hitting a wall while going 130 and messing up some ribs, a lung, a kidney, and receiving a concussion, I plan on driving mine on the street more in the future. It'll still be on the track now and then, but not exclusively.
I have attached an old video with the previous owner driving. Not the fastest pass ever, but you get the idea. To hear the 106mm Precision turbo spool is a truly a thing of beauty!

Watching that vid gave me wood Love the sound of a turbo on the launch.
I noticed the car bumped hard from pre-stage to stage. Did you have a button to interrupt the trans brake selenoid momentarily to move the car few inches? Or did you build boost on the foot brake pre-staged and then let up a bit and hit the trans brake once the car rolled into the stage beams?
Most people don't realize that tagging the wall at speeds of over 100 mph is gonna do some damage because we're so used to watching late model stock Vettes trap over 100 in the 1/4 mile pretty effortlessly. My car was no speed demon by today's standards but I knew very well that if, God forbid, I hit the wall on the top end going 160 mph I'd be in serious chit. John Lingenfelter, RIP, hit the wall at 170 mph and never recovered from his injuries. Scary stuff.
As far as I know the record was held by Millen he went 6.98 with a 106mm and a liberty trans @ 3000lbs. You got that beat. I put a post up on godragracing.com if someone went faster we will know about it.
You are right about the 10.5 guys flying but their not doing it with a single. BTW I beleive the record for twins is 6.66 by Lynch.
