Default Update..

I went to E Town... 1st run with street tired.. (DR's haven't arrived)..

If someone can get me a set at Maple Grove 9am tomorrow great.. but its short notice..

I made 2 runs last night with street tires.. 1st run 1600' with TC ON it ran 12.80 110.xx but seemed lazy...

2nd run with TC off ran 12.60 @ 111.30 mph (great air) I'll be at Maple Grove tomorrow 8 am for Jeanne to get ready for E Towns first time shot. E Town runs 9am....lets hope the rain holds off till late...

John, what were the sixty foots?

Even with street tires I will ALWAYS vote for turning the TC off for track duty, it just holds the car back too much as was somewhat proven by your runs above.
If your car isn't kicking dangerously sideways on the 1-2 shift like mine now does on street tires after my awesome Cartek/Julio tuning then you should still be faster on them versus drag radials until you do further mods.

Even though I've raced my car on both stock tires and drag radials, it's best sixty foot (1.85 or 1.86) to date has been on the STOCK RUNFLATS.
How was that done you may ask?
Going through the water and baking the tires with a high rpm burnout. If the track is at least somewhat well prepped, they'll hook.
And drag radials often invoke more torque management than stock tires (on C6s) and might not be necessary until you get more mods (ie: converter, headers, CAI etc.) on the car.

Good luck to you and Jeanne.

Do not use traction control. If you're running street tires launch in 2nd. You'll be consistent.

Just got an update from Jpee in Maple Grove. Jeanne went 12.49 @ 113 from deep staged with an .036 light in the first trial. Traction control off.

Unfortunately it looks like rain tonight, tomorrow and at least part of Sat.

Good luck team ECS CC

John had considered that as well but keep in mind that the '2nd gear start' feature of the late model 4L60E/4L65E transmissions will really kill the car's response at the launch, it might sixty foot in the 2.2-2.4 range on a 2nd gear start though yes, it could potentially be more consistent.

Wow, that's a nice improvement. See, weight reduction really does work plus the girl can drive of course.

I'm going to check the air out there, it's gotta be decent for the car to drop over a tenth and gain almost 2mph in one day even with Jeanne weighing less than John.

Consistency is the name of the game. ET and MPH look good on paper but won't win a race.

No traction control on street tires will be very inconsistent. Could have two good launches and then an .05 spin. If you use traction control you have the same problem only with timing instead of spinning.

True, in that sense the 2nd gear start could be the answer.

I have another update, but first let me correct the first update. Jpee gave me the stats from the car in the other lane.....imagine that.

The first runs was 12.52@ 112.5. They got in a second run with the DA up about 700 ft and ran 12.54@112. I little more consistent than it's been before. That's it for today and tomorrow looks like rain.

Oh ok, that works too. Doesn't matter too much for that car will go 12.4s (maybe 12.3s?) at over 113mph within a month or two anyway.

Bad news guys

1st round the weather stations were predicting 12.68 so we decided to dial soft 12.69..

Jeanne had a .031 light (other lane had a (.066) but my car just didn't run the # ... The 60' was .06 slower than Thursday, and all increments were slower .. she was running a 12.90 car and when she saw she couldn't catch him she dumped it.. 12.85 on a .69 dial..

I think the car still has a problem with Torque Management,,,,

I have noticed that you need to dial up for an AM run. We did our time shots the day before and on Sat. morning everybody was .2 slower. You gave it everything you had. Next year.

Looking at the results, a lot of people were running unusually slow today. Many cars missed by a tenth or more, and even more were slow by .05 or more. And that's factoring out races that weren't close.......so they weren't on the brakes.

Anyway it sounds like it was a good thing you guys got out of there. They finished first round of Pro, but got more rain during the first round of Super. Looks like the event is postponed until tomorrow and they might only run 1/8 mi.

It's real bad on these C6s, just a series of nasty computer intrusions and inconsistent reactions to pedal inputs. Tuning can only remove so much of it too.
A more mods come (ie: Vararam, higher stall torque converter) you will find that you might be able to drive around some of it though it takes some practice.
