Modified Street looked OK until I saw that it is a carb only class and Fuel Injection is Prohibited?
EZ Street rules are crazy?
I guess the combo there is a turbo big block?
It only has to weigh 100# more than a small block, but can be 250 cubic inches bigger???
After reading the rules it does not appear NHRA is really looking to attract Weekend Warrior Drag Racers like their earlier news release indicated. They nearly suckered me in again, I actually thought NHRA was looking to create a limited program to bring in the "little-guy", but it hasn't changed - the money must not be right yet for NHRA. Sportsman Class racing is expensive for NHRA, much more so than the Pro classes where they "police" themselves. What I don't understand is why are they even bothering having Index Classes as slow as 12.0, 12.5 and 13.0 or the Modified Street Class? Perhaps NHRA is priming the racers for some major futrure rule changes that will reduce NHRA's expense of having so many Sportsman Classes. Remember NHRA doesn't do a thing that doesn't line their pocket! Watch out Sportsman Class racers.
I think we are just using two different definitions of the "little guy". They compare the little guy to nitro racers where as we compare the little guy to our level racing, brackets and indexes.
I think this is less to do with NHRA and more to do with Pullin' using NHRA marketing power.
I just spoke with Glendora...in the rules PDF it sends you to the NHRA rulebook for the Index classes...I told them that is fine unless one is not an NHRA member...believe it or not he told me to join, buy a rule book or borrow someone's...
I told him he needs to post the rules for the event including all classes, not just three, in that many racers may not be NHRA members...we'll see if these arrogant so and so's post the rules for all classes...

Thanks for reading the rules, I knew if you did there would be plenty of questions and confusion......ie: carb only????? whats with that?????
Plus NHRA has been talking about removing the sportsman racing from their national events for years and backfilling the Pro classes with the home tracks racers/classes. This would end NHRA long standing problems of policing class racing.

Wow...yet another example of a racing organization refusing to help itself...amazing. So I guess borrowing a book from a friend includes loaning ones electronic copy? LOL. NHRA authorized sounds like
Was it only me or does everyone know that when you join NHRA your New Membership Kit does not include a racing rule book. The rule book is extra and you need to order and buy it or find it for sale at a Speed Shop. I guess its just me that finds it odd that when you join an organization you don't get a rule book as part of the membership kit.
NHRA does go by the rule....."He who has the Money makes the Rules!" I'm so done with these guys but I know they just don't care about me or others like me.
Yea for the index races they referred you to NHRA rule book section 4 E.T. Handicap racing & Section 20, General regulations. Is it so hard to not publish these rules?

... you're startin' to get the picture more in-focus, Edgar

I can't say for-sure, but I seem to remember that to run the Bracket Finals, you had to be an active NHRA Member, and have a valid competition number (which I recall costed another $30/year):
I'd figure Glendora will want the same for this cash-cow they've sired

!st race is in Atlanta, our hometown. We were excited until we got the rules like the rest of y'all. Only place we fit is the index class where we anticipate running half way between the 8.50 and 10.00. Don't think we will waste the time or effort.

Paul I'd be in the same class. My car with a front opening scoop, no headlamps, 4 link, and carb doesn't give much of a selection...

Of course Glendora's about the money...
Regarding that pic... anybody who'd dress like that guy on the right is guilty of first degree douchebaggery for certain.
As to Unleashed.... simple matter of an "old school" throttle stop on the '85, and 12.00 index here we come! (sorry Chicken Man)
