atfer round 2 of qualifying, I was #1 with a 12.008
First round I'm paired with a 10.50 car. So here's my chance to take the advice of you guys here and try using my mirrors and swiveling my head a bit more...
No chance - My opponent red lighted. I was .021 on the tree and ran it out to an 11.997.
Round 2, 11 cars left and I get the bye, but wait... rain came and they call the race... damn...
Oh man, and you were on a roll too, it could've been your day.
Congrats on the 12.00/number one qualifying position.
Car looks pretty good on those 16s too.
after round 1 of qualifying, I was #5 with a 12.072

We were told they will continue the race on the last race of the season. Oct 29th. I'm working that weekend... UGH. All I have to do is show up and take the tree and I get $50 for the 1/4 finals money - but, I can't make it.
After last week and yesterday, I'm feeling a lot better about my chances every time I take the tree...
Thanks again for all your advice.
Sorry for my late post. NICE BIT OF DRIVING. Question are you deep staged on the pro 500 getting the .021 RT? The old red vette in the background looks familiar. I think that car is running the old fuel injection system from 1957.

I don't get how so many guys deep stage on a .500 pro tree and not go red. First round, I had two bumps in, but still two bumps shy of deep and went .002 in a car that I don't consider especially quick. I would've went way red going deep. Isn't the objective on a pro tree to go at the instant the ambers flash?
One issue is, and even two rookies like us have seen it happen, the rollout is different from track to track.
Cecil and MG, I can cut a light shallow. At E-town, at least the last time I was there on a pro tree, I was late every time. Atco? I'm not sure, but I'll find out soon enough.

They often do, when going REAL deep at least. At E-town I have found a somewhat large variation even just within the 'top bulb out' deep range. I even sometimes break it down into 4 staging styles (shallow/shallow, deep/shallow, shallow/deep and deep/deep) as opposed to just two (deep or shallow). A mid 11 second car going very deep/deep on a .500 pro tree with some RPMs behind it and dead hooking is almost a guaranteed red every time.
But not every car reacts the same and as Pete noted, not every track, rollout or tree are the same either.

Yes.
But it's all about balance, ya gotta find the sweet spot on that tree and yet still be able to adjust for the NUMEROUS variables (air temp, track prep and even fuel load changes, coolant temps, extra tough opponents, everything) from pass to pass.
