Although we race for the passion of it.....it is nice to win$ from time to time.
Most tracks offer $4-500 to win in the footbrake class's and runners-up usually get $100 or so.
You can not only have fun at this, but pay your fuel to! Roy Armstrong with his C3 Pace-car (royarms forum name) entered his first time and went all the way to the finals beating app 60 others!
The foot-brake nationals are coming up May 26 & 27 at Piedmont dragway in N.C.......$5k to win both days. Anyone else on here intending on going? We are and would like to see some of the experianced bracket racers attend.
Too far for me but where can I find the rest of the footbrake nationals schedule?
As for winning money yes it is pretty cool to win a few bucks. The Corvette Challenge pays $200 to the winner, $100 runner-up and $50 for each semi-finalist. This on top of other great prizes and gift certificates.
Check out http://www.IHRA.com to see if they have more info...I'm going back there now. This is the closest one to us (were in west central FL) so it has been the only one we pay attention to. Hey, it is only 10 hours for us, it can't be much further for you, is it? :D We travel to Budds Creek every year for the IHRA Jr Nationals!
I'd love to, but i've got a date i think lol. I'd like to check your ride out sometime, looks like pretty nice rod :) From what i've heard, Bradenton puts Bithlo to shame

Re: Making$ racing! (TLewis4095)
I race for fun not for money. I bet in my 35 years of racing I've won as much if not more than anyone here and at a high level of competition and I still about $150,000 in the hole :(
That is the Holley pro-am....the Footbrake Nationals at Piedmont is the 26th & 27th.....I am getting info on 2 more $5k footbrake races in your area in July & August I think...
Mackeyred96: Amen to that! Only John Force & Kenny Bernstein seem to make the big$....and it is not from the winnings!
I have found that my bracket competition will pay for a few entry fee's and some gas if I race well.... but beyond that its all out of my own pocket.
A sponsor would be nice... but then again, I don't want anybodys name on the side of my corvette.... but then again, $ 5-10K a year would probably change my mind..... anybody want to find out. :)
I had a good 2001, for a local bracket racer. For the first time in my life, I covered my entry fees with winnings. ENTRY FEES ONLY!!! I consider that a major accomplishment with our poor pay outs.
