Does anyone use tire prep at the tract, if so what kind and in what fashion? I have seen VHT, Track Bite, and Tiger Claw. what works best and wht kind of results have you achieved from it?
I'm at the track often and I don't see or know of anyone racing at the grassroots/amateur level that currently uses it on their tires directly.
Years ago a friend of mine did buy a small jug of VHT and attempted to coat his tires with it prior to racing but all it did was waste some money, make a big mess (it's like a stringy glue that flies everywhere) and his tires still hooked no better with it than they had without it LOL.
We have always used a product called Track Claw. It is made by Brothers Research Corp, Burlington, NC 27216, part # 2995. We call them and have them ship. We coat the tires several times prior to racing, it also gives us a chance to "talk" to the tires and let them know what their job is!!
It seems to keep the slicks soft for a longer time, we actually do it several times during the winter. It keeps them from curing or hardening. Our 60' times have always been good and consistent. Our best is a 1.290 but will run as high as 1.38 depending on the track.

It comes in a gallon can, hope that helps.
Which Track Claw? They sell like 20 different kinds.
I get a kick out of the whole tire prep subject. They sell Millions of dollars worth of these products each year so people use the stuff, but no one will admit to using it. It is always a friend that uses it, Or " I heard the stuff sucks". I myself watched a guy pour VHT in front of his tires at the line and he launched like he was coming off an aircraft carrier. I lined in in his tracks and I also hooked like I was in tar. If it is legal and it gives traction I want to try it.

Oh, if the track allowed racers to use their own then yes, that would be IDEAL.
But I have yet to be at any track (regular test & tune, race event or even private rental) that permitted racers to pour ANYTHING on their starting line LOL.
I actually thought you were asking about using the stuff to soak the tires themselves in it (which I know some people do).
