I saw a few familiar names: Harvey, Mullaney, Mattioli, Van Craynest, Balducci. Looks like there will be a lot less poison for us to deal with tomorrow at Atco.
Just saw one of the top Atco Pro ET racers lost last night with a 13 thou package, scrubbing 6 mph and giving up the stripe by .002. That 1/8 mile stuff is real tight.
On Saturday they had 434 racers show up....sheesh...Steve Foley won with Chris Plott second and Richard Alford third...
Chris Plott is known as Cougar Daddy as he drives an old cougar...thing runs good though...he dials it at 5.65...Alford is tough guy who won one of the 10K's 3 years ago..he ran out of gas on the hit in the final....but...Manny Sousa left second and red lit...Manny never saw Alford stop he was so focused on the bulb...
Today, Brock Moshier in his quick Vega wagon lost in the semi to Chris Plott (yup, same one)...Tim Griffiths had the bye into the final...Griffiths won over Plott who was runner up for the second day in a row...
I raced Moshier 3 years ago and he is a tough round...
I will be racing in the Fall Footbrake Classic in Jax, NC on Thanksgiving weekend...20 grand to win on Friday and 5 grand on Saturday with a smaller 2 grander on Sunday, I believe...
Some of y'all ought to think about coming down...big money footfeedin' is the shiznit!....
a buddy who began racing seriously with me 20+ years ago went to his first WFC ~ via his wife's facebook, he fouled-out in the 1st Round Friday, lost in the 4th Saturday & Sunday, after going -.003 (slower opponent fouled-first), .001 and .005 on Sunday
not-sure how & why he lost in the 4th
he has a pair of Track Championships, a handful of runner-ups, dozens of Summit Series victories, with wins at various tracks ~ he says he'll be-back next year
You need to go to this race someday...it is nothing but fun!...
Hopefully I'll be able to attend next year and catch up with old friends from Atco, Cecil, and Maple Grove. Not forgetting Raceway Park, Numidia, and Island.
I was talking to Dave Harvey at the track tonight. He said it was killer competition...guys dumping to go dead on. In the 8th!
Marc, to be honest it's a lot like ATCO's pro points races. Only difference is the competition is deeper and you get a hitter every round. If you can stand tall and run with the peeps at ATCO you can run at the big money events. 8th needs a tighter RT and its easier to dial but the same tatics apply as in the 1/4. Things just happen quicker. I'm going thru the 8th learnign curve now and things are starting to slow down.
