Congrats to him! An impressively non dramatic run. Looking at the splits I'm thinking his powerglide is favoring the first half, but maybe its the tires rubbing affecting the topend. Definitely the ultimate sleeper! Never thought a 6sec car could be considered that lol

Yeah but which one sounds and looks better? And without those huge slicks racing that AWD Gallardo on the streets, he'll get smoked! And I'm sure they cost about the same at that level.

6s, wow. Congrats to Sal.
Mark (atomicfusion) will have his hands full next week at the LSx Shootout but I think he was looking to go quicker anyway so hopefully he can bring the IRS record (that he'd also held for a couple of weeks) back to the Corvette side.
Some of us will be there to see it happen in person if he does it.

Sal is one persistent dude. I remember him chipping away at 8s when I was racing my Z06. 6s is a quantum leap from where he was just a few years ago. Amazing.

Although I would like to see it go to Mark in a vette, it is good to see the record jump from Supra's to a Viper, Vetts and so on. Doesn't leave one manufacturer as the dominate IRS car in peoples minds.

Don't get me wrong.. I want the record, but I also have to win races...
Next Weekend at the LSX shootout here is what you should expect to see...
I will put my car on our cruise control 7.20@200 tuneup and run rounds in Drag Radial. If all goes well and I am lucky enough to win the event, I'll go up and see if we have the track and time to make a 6 second pass.
Here is the thing, I could just turn it up on the big end and have gone 6's, but my little small block only likes so much boost, and I am really not willing to "risk it" until after the season is over.
When we went 7.09@212 we wern't trying to... we were actually only running my 7.34 tune up... it just went way faster because of the track and conditions. After the event was over we turned it up for the 6 second run and unfortunately when we turn it up, it want's to wheelie...
We have the power to go 6.8x or faster and 220+ and if we get these wheelies under control, everyone will get a chance to see it.
Until then, Sal has earned his spot (again) and I respect what he has done... he has a beautiful car and it is smoking fast!

Drifting
would a different chin spoiler provide too much down force in order to keep the front end on the ground? maybe just some small front bumper canards? although at 200+ keeping those things attached probably becomes an issue.

Not sure if it's going to help you guys more than it will hurt (traction?) but the air is going to be somewhat cooler next week in Indy.
I know you probably have the intake air/charge pretty well cooled already but, maybe it can even happen using a little less boost now?

We have been working on the short side of the track... we are already down to 4.68@165 on the 275's and have had 60's as low as 1.19...
Once we put all the numbers together on one pass, it is going to be a hard to beat number.

Mark, what you've accomplished is fantastic. Congrats to both you and Sal for keeping at it.
I agree (and I'm sure a lot of racers do) with your plan to finish out the race season before really turning it up.
I'm looking forward to you letting it eat!!
