Short story, I attained my 1.999 goal last year with my '13 coupe on stock GY RF's with just ARH headers & exhaust & a tune. It was actually 11.992 @ 118.86, 1.874 short time
I could go cam this year & secure 11's all day long on street tires, but, I still have new car warranty I want to keep.
So my next option is DR's.
I do not want to run faster than 11.499 as I do not want to cage my car, but I want to be pretty darn close.
I believe after reading the countless posts here I will go with the 555's, but I didn't see one thing, will I need TPMS's as well?
These tires & wheels will only be put on & run at the track, which is my question buried in this long post!
I guess my 2nd question now that I think of it, what is you guys thoughts, cam or DR's?

If you go with a cam, you will need drag radials. I think it is a safety to have and use drag radial's. I use the Nitto NT-05. I have no problems with them and I get 2 season from them.
I do not use TPMS with my drag radials. You will receive a message on the dash. Just hit reset. I think if you were to make a pass on street tires and then use drag radials, you will see and feel a huge improvement.
You are asking if switching to drag radials and street tires intermittently will you have a problem? Yes you will after about 1 hour or 20 miles whichever occurs first the missing input from the drag radials and the slight OD of the rear tires relevant to the front will cause traction control to activate and put on the brakes. This will happen almost instantly at wot even if you have not gone 20 miles. The absence of the tps input is not the problem it is the absence of the stagger in the wheel size (OD). With your current mods any of the drag radials will work quite well as far as hookup is concerned so the real issue is street drivability and tread wear. I found the nitto's 275 40 18 to be very drivable even in rain and they last at least 10000 miles even with lots of runs. Start at 25 psi you'll be surprised at how well they hook. Another brand that is capable of supporting you down to the high 9's is the Hoosier in the same size. Chris Martin who posts hear loves them but I'm not sure about their street performance. We met at Charlotte and Atlanta and even raced once (my bad pushed out of the staging lights and red eye late on e night in Atlanta. My car is 2008 c6a6 best ever time 11.98 and 118.xx. I will be happy to give more detail if desired or needed. Ps if you are ok with canceling traction control the stagger problem goes away.
